Best sketch pad I have seen

For my A2 art project I needed to get an A3 sketch pad. I previously used the same one for my AS project and found it extremely useful, so went to buy this one again.

The sketchpad is A3 in size, spiral bound on the side so that each page is landscape and has detachable pages. The thickness of paper comes in two sizes I think. The one I have is 220gsm but I think there is also a 180gsm one.

The reason for having a spiral bound sketchbook is so that you are not restricted to working flat. Hard bound sketchbooks tend not to be able to tolerate relief and the binding can break easily if there is too much attached within. Also, I'd like the outcome to be relatively flat instead of bursting like some sketchbooks I have seen before.

The binding here is surprisingly strong. I have included several mirror experiments and the pages have tolerated all the weight, and has yet to fall apart.

I am also very happy with the quality of the paper. I have worked onto these with watercolour and even with all that liquid on the surface, it does not seep through and spoil the other side, though the page will crinkle.

The benefit of having detachable pages is that in the event of a major disaster, you can always tear the page off as it has been perforated. Thankfully, I have only needed to do this once due to some idiot splashing coke all over a page. Grr.

I have looked everywhere for a sketchbook with all these criteria and Rymans was the only place I found one like this. Hobbycraft does similar ones but none to this paper quality. For only £6.99 you are getting a quality sketchbook perfect for art students with all the necessities and fine details that make this a must buy. I hope they keep stocking this as I foresee myself needing this quite often.

UPDATE: Renza E's comment just reminded me that you can get a good student discount from Ryman's, making this even more worthwhile.
