If you were to ask me what my favourite sticky tape is, I'd have to say that it is Scotch Magic tape. Now let me tell you why. Unlike your standard shiney sellotape, Scotch Magic tape is a dull matt tape that seems a creamy white colour while it's on the roll, but when you peel it off and sticky it on something it magically (hey I suppose that's where it got its name from!) becomes transparent. Though I must say that it doesn't become totally see through, but it's almost magic! One of the best features of the tape is that if you are wrapping a present and accidentally stick it somewhere and want to move it, unlike normal sellotape, you can! It lifts ... You may be forgiven for thinking that there really is no need for a review of a sticky tape, it's a relatively cheap item which most people will have in their homes and, if not there, then in their offices. However, there are some important differences with this tape that might just make you go and look out for it when you are next in need of a roll of the sticky stuff. What makes Scotch Magic Tape different from most other tapes is, well, almost everything. For a start it's a matt tape, not shiney and it blends into the background very well. It claims to be invisible, a claim that I would dispute, but, on all but the shiniest of wrapping papers ... Read the complete review

I have been using Scotch Magic Tape for a few years now, mainly for work purposes. As it is a product that I use time and time again, I thought it would be a good idea to share my feelings on it with other consumers or potential consumers. The product: Scotch Magic Tape is a transparent, matt textured adhesive tape. It can be used mainly for sticking paper onto paper, although I have used it to stick paper onto other materials, such as sticking little labels/notes etc on my shelf, or sticking photo's on my wall etc. What makes this Magic Tape different from other adhesive tapes is that you can actually write on the Tape, and also ... I've been wrapping Christmas presents on and off for the past week and must have wrapped nearly 100 items large and small. I've been through a reel of my usual sellotape (not the branded type but a cheaper version), a small reel of patterned metallic red Christmas tape and a small reel of patterned silver metallic Christmas themed tape. Last night I ran out of tape. All I could find in the tape box was electic tape of various colours, masking tape and parcel tape. Clearly none of these would add to the festive feel of my gifts so I roused the troops and sent them on a mission to find a reel of sellotape somewhere in the house. Surely there would be ... Scotch magic tape is a magical thing - as its name says. You would probably think that some famous Scotsman invented it or some Scottish factory started producing them. No. It is a product of a huge American manufacturing conglomerate 3M from Minnesota. The product has been invented in 1930s to be used with, then new material, cellophane as it was not possible to stick together sheets of cellophane using existing sticky tapes on the market. Cellophane was a big hit with food distributors at that time as it was moisture proof. 3M engineer Richard Drew with his colleagues spent a year developing new cellulose tape. The cellulose tape backing curled near heat, split when it ... Read the complete review
