Advantages: Long lasting, bright and good value for money.
Disadvantages: None.
If you have read my previous reviews you will be aware I am into purchasing stationary as a student, and need good quality stuff to get me through my work. For quite a long time, I disregarding Stabilo Boss highlighters as I thought they were quite expenisve. However, when purchased in my local Wilkonsons, they were only 90p for a single highlighter, and sick of cheap basic highlighters which last only days, I decided to give them a go.
The colour purchased was the fluorescent orange colour, which is nice and bright (as highlighters should be) and not as commonly seen as the standard pink and yellow highlighters, and the pen purchased was Stabilo Boss original, with an orange pen and black snap off lid. When looking into Stabilo boss as a company on the internet, I was incredibly impressed by the website ( WWW.STABILO.COM) as they have sections for all people who may be in need of a highlighter. Interested to find out more, I clicked onto the School and University section to find there are loads of funky highlighter designs which you can purchase. This, on top of the reasonable price in Wilkinsons, lightened my views toward Stabilo Boss.
As read, the original highlighter comes in 9 fluorescent colours and the ink is refillable, which although not stated, I am sure must be good in some sort of way for the environment. The design of the pen, which is long, thin and deformed cuboid shaped stops the highlighter from rolling away. The pen also has a long cap off time, meaning if you were to lose of forget to put the lid on, the highlighter would last longer than the basic highlighers.
The pen in itself is just as bright as the outside, and the ink is of very good quality, meaning you do not have to re-highlight the same thing again and again. I have had my Stabilo boss for around 1 year now, and use it at least 10 times throughout the week, and it has shown no signs of running out or the colour fading.
Therefore, I hold my hands up to Stabilo boss and admit that I was wrong, and even if the prices were to become a bit higher (Not unlikely due to current economy), I would still purchase. Cliche, but you get what you pay for, and in this case it is quality. Would recommend highly.
Summary: A fantastic reputation for a reason.
