Stabilo Boss Highlighter
Advantages: Work brilliantly well, great when working on documents
Disadvantages: Don't need all six colours
Light up your life
As part of my job, I often have to read through and correct documents. Sometimes I just grab whichever pen is to hand, but when I am a bit more organised I find that highlighters are the best way to do the job. As I often work from home, I recently purchased some Stabilo highlighters.
The highlighters I purchased is a set of six colours that come in their own handy plastic pot. The colours are yellow, orange, pink, blue, green and a red that is more like a dark pink. The set cost me around £5 from amazon, and it is widely available online although prices vary.
A handy pot
I really like that these pens come in their own pot than the usual plastic wallet. This sits really nicely on my desk and means the pens don't go missing as I have somewhere simple to put them after use! The pens look simple - the main body of the pen reflects the colour of the ink, and there is a simple black lid.
The nibs of these pens are slightly flat and pointed, making it easy to run the tip of the pen over words in documents. The ink in the pens is very bright and has a neon look to it. This is the great thing about highlighter pens - the ink is bright and eye-catching but doesn't cover the words underneath at all. I find these ideal for reading through documents as you can simply run the nib of the pen over the word or words you wish to change, correct and so on, and then when you next flick through the pages you can easily see the words which have been highlighted. You won't miss anything, as you may do if you just use a normal pen.
These pens work really well, and I have been using this set for a while now and they all seem to be going strong still. However, I do have one problem with these pens which is that I am not mad on the full range of colours. Although all the shades are bright, and highlight words on the page well without obscuring any words underneath, I definitely find the yellow, orange and pink work the best in terms of being the most bright and eyecatching. With hindsight, I think I would prefer a cheaper set of pens that just include yellow and perhaps pink. Having said this, if you require a range of colours then this is a good set as all the pens work just fine - it is more of a personal preference really!
The only other thing I must add is that my daughter sometimes sits next to me at my desk and does some drawings, and I do let her use these to colour small parts of her pictures. She loves the pink highlighter and these do work quite well for colouring in as well as just highlighting!
This is a good set of highlighter pens, and they work really well. But while I would certainly recommend Stabilo highlighters I am not sure that this is the best set to buy, as I don't think the range of colours is really necessary.
Summary: Great highlighter pens
