I bought this box of highlighters simply because of the handy and interesting container design, it's basically a giant highlighter with a clip on lid like the highlighters inside. It acts as a desk tidy and when the highlighters are gone it can be used for paperclips or more highlighters. The box is easy to clean and the lid only has a few small grooves here and there so dirt, dust and grease doesn't build up too much. The container is rock solid, thick plastic and takes a beating well. Throwing this thing about won't cause it to crack or break. The logo on the front has rubbed off quite a lot on mine though. The pens are excellent, they're bright, they last ages and the ink isn't too runny. The ones i've got have lasted for months. I use them for highlighting codes on documents at work, they usually last hundreds of pages doing this. The ink doesn't leave blobs or clumps of dumped ink on your work. The felt in the highlighters is of good quality too, it's not too soft so it doesn't break apart and drop chunks of felt on your work. It is possible to crush the tip with excessive force but it is really difficult to do this when writing normally. The tip is quite wide at the joining end but towards the end it comes in towards the middle and creates a fairly blunt triangular tip, providing a square line when placed on your paper, or a parallelogram when used at an angle. Lets be honest, no one writes directly 180* onto the paper, so you wont get a perfectly square line every time. The pens are comfortable to use and they don't dry out when being used for long periods of time. So long as you lift of the paper now and then for a few seconds break to let the ink sink to the bottom again you should be able to keep highlighting for hours. The shaft is quite uncomfortable to hold for long lengths of time though due to the really hard plastic, and there are no grips on them. The logo's wear off if you have sweaty hands too but these don't leave peeled off paint on your hands. I highly recommend these highlighters and in this handy pot they are better value, and you can use the pot for other stuff when you're finished with it. You can buy these from staples, amazon and any other good stationers or office supplier.
I was given these mini highlighters in July 2010, as one of the highlights of a leaving gift when I left my job for a new adventure. The four highlighters (blue, green, yellow, pink) are presented in a small, clear plastic box with a black lid, which itself looks like a chunky highlighter pen. I was very pleased to receive these pens which have been through extensive use since then, although they are now languishing in a box in the lounge, enjoying a period of calm. The performance of the pens is very good, equal to that of their larger brethren. The ink flows freely, giving good coverage, and the felt tip is shaped so that you can easily highlight a line or word in a standard size 12-14 font in one swoop. You can turn the tip to produce a much thinner line if needs be. The colours all highlight effectively, though the blue does not seem to work as well for me, but that's my eyes not the pen. Having a range of colours allows you to highlight using a colour code for different aspects, but if you have more than four categories then you need to improvise with other pens and pencils. They are comfortable to hold for short term use and straight lines, but not for writing a lot. The packaging I thought was great, but I have since cast the tub into the recycling. My reason was that if I had the tub in my bag the lid often came off, and I had to grovel about for the pens under all manner of bag detritus. If I put the whole tub in my pencil case, which is quite large, the zip would not fasten, plus I had to go through two layers, if you will, to get to the pens. CrazyEgg does not have time for this. The packaging I feel is best suited to stationary use of the stationery, perhaps as part of some kind of desk display. The pens as I say have been languishing for some time, ie nearly 12 months now, and a quick test shows they are still in tiptop condition. However, it should be noted that I was put to the trouble of testing these, when in fact other manufacturers very kindly make the barrel of the pen see-through so you can see at a glance whether replacement is required. Overall, a very handy set of highlighters.
STABILO MINI BOSS BOX ASSORTED PK4 - prices on-line range from £3.21 to £6.21 I bought these from a local stationary store, as I had a voucher so only paid £3 cash for them. The highlighters themselves are great, they have lasted ages, and came in a handy box. They were however prices rather high considering you'd get more bang for your buck with other brands, or with full sized highlighters. In the pack I got a yellow, orange, green and blue pen in my pack. I'm not sure if this was standard or if there would have been other choices. Stabilo Boss Highlighters have long lasting ink, that will not obscure words if you photocopy after highlighting. They are great as they never seem to run out even if you leave the lid off for a while. However there are cheaper products out there that will give the same effect for a lot less money.
ESSENTIAL STUDENT STATIONERY!! I was halfway through term and in need of some highlighters to organise my lecture notes. As I am quite OCD with notes, I like to use different colours for different things so that it is easier to study from. So, off I went to Ryman's stationery shop expecting to part with over a fiver for a handful of highlighters (all of which I would probably lose withing a week)... That's when I laid eyes on a students' highlighter dream! ***What is it?*** Stabilo Boss Mini Highlighter Box is a pack of 4 miniature highlighters in assorted colours. The colours are blue, green, yellow and orange. They are a mini version of the STABILO BOSS original (tip and ink is identical), and have up to four hours cap off time. ***Packaging*** The box itself is shaped like a mini highlighter which ,for some reason, I find cute. It is half clear so that you can see what colours you have and the lid is black. The highlighters themselves are brightly coloured and have the company name and logo stamped onto them. The packaging size is 8.9 x 5.6 x 3.2 cm (HxWxD). ***Price*** £2.99 from Rymans. ***Conclusion*** I think this is a must have for students and people that generally need highlighters in their life! The small compact box is perfect to fit in your bag and for taking to lectures and seminars. No need for fiddling about with pencil cases or trying to find highlighters that are loose in the bottom of your bag! Also, no-one can pinch one in class as you make sure all of them are in the box before putting it away! The box is lovely and appealling and for less than £3 it's a bargain. I've had them for 6 months and still working well!!
