We needed to order some more whiteboard markers for the office. I went straight on Amazon to see what sort of selection they had. I found a pack of four Staedtler Lumocolor pens for £4.80 free delivery, which is significantly lower than our suppliers so I decided to order a few packs.
If you have read any of my other reviews you will know I am a big fan of amazon, and living up to their reputation the pens were delivered ahead of schedule and were well packaged. The pens come in a handy little box which is good for storing them and means that I don't loose them all the time. The set cam with four colours, red, black, blue and green. The pens work very well and the colour comes out sharp and intense, not washed out or faded. The pens have a good lid which clips down and keep the nibs from drying out which has been a trouble with most other pens. The ink rubs off the white board without any trouble.
Its not a very exciting review but the pens a decent quality, cheap and do the job well. I have used them on several occasions on paper with mixed results depending on the quality of the paper. On poor quality paper the ink tends to bleed and looks blurry, but the main purpose of the pens is to write on a whiteboard so not a major worry.
For the price these pens are great quality and I would not hesitate in ordering them again.
I have a packet of Staedtler Lumocolor Flip Chart Markers which I use for student presentations when I'm teaching at work. I think you can buy the markers individually, but I have a wallet of 6 markers so that I have assorted colours. The pack of six flip chart markers cost me £9.40 from Amazon - which works out as £1.60 per marker. I feel this is probably on the slightly expensive side as they are essentially chunky felt tips, but as work was paying I didn't quibble about the price too much.
The markers, as I said, come in six colours, namely orange, red, purple, blue, green and black. It's pretty standard colours, but having said that, the colours are bright and bold and so work well for the purpose for which they are designed. They do write well on flip chart paper and the lettering remains crisp without any bleeding into the paper and it dries immediately. I also like that fact that even if you use really cheap flip chart paper, the ink does not come through to the other side, although it is possible to see the writing on the opposite side if the paper is particularly thin. The ink is water-based and so apparently it is washable - although I have to say I've never had the need to check this out.
I think what I'm particularly impressed about is that these pens take quite a long time to dry out. I've even left the lid off for several hours and still the pen hasn't dried out - which is rare in my experience. For that reason, I think these pens really are better than most - and for that reason I recommend them.
