Advantages: Good quality

Disadvantages: Can be expensive

I use a pencil at work a lot, and as such we are supplied with rubbers / erasers. The erasers that my workplace supply to us are Staedtler Mars plastic erasers, which are produced by Staedtler who are a leading stationary brand.

Aside from using these erasers at work, I also use a pencil a lot in my little office area at home. I was also lucky enough to spot a selection of these exact erasers for sale at a car-boot sale earlier this year. The guy behind the stall had a couple of dozen of them, and was selling them off at 3 for a pound, which was an absolute bargain, as these erasers generally cost around £1:50 - £2 each when purchased from a stationary store. Staedtler do also sell these erasers in bulk packs of 20, which works out cheaper at around 80p per eraser, although unless you are a very heavy user of a pencil, a pack of 20 would last for years and years!

As I mentioned above, Staedtler are a leading brand when it comes to stationary, and these erasers clearly prove that. They are bright white in colour, and sit in a small cardboard sheath, which exposes about a quarter of the eraser at the end, whilst protecting the other 3 quarters of the eraser from general contamination from dust, light and human hands, until such a time that the initial exposed quarter has been used up, and so the eraser can be pushed up inside the cardboard sheath to expose a new area. The cardboard area is blue and white in colour, and displays the company's logo on it, giving it a professional look.
The dimensions of the eraser are 65mm x 23mm x 13mm.

Staedtler claim that these erasers are 'self cleaning erasers', and this basically means that as the eraser is rubbed into some pencil marks on a piece of paper or other material, small fragments of rubber will break away from the eraser, as they get contaminated from the pencil, meaning that the remaining rubber is always clean and fresh.

I have no doubts that these erasers are the best quality ones that I have ever used. They make erasing effortless, and they do work on coloured pencils as well as a standard lead or graphite pencil.

Overall I would happily recommend Staedtler erasers, as they are of a very good quality. They also last a long time, so you do get good value for the price you pay. I'm sure that once my little stock from the car-boot sale run out, I will be on the look-out for another staedtler eraser for my little office at home.

Thanks for reading.
