I had to sharpen lots of pencils recently and as I was sharpening them I started to think about them .
The steadtler traditional pencil is one that has been around for several years and I think a lot of us will have used.
Schools and offices will probably have some of these pencils .

Steadtler is a German firm that have made pencils and writting equipment for many years.

The Steadtler traditional pencils are those red and black striped ones . These pencils have 6 flattened sides making it easier to grip and hold . They do not roll of the table so easily either. The wood is cedar from farmed trees.

The traditional pencil is a standard length of about 18cm they will fit in to most standard pencil cases don't you just hate it when your pencils are too long for your pencil case .

These traditional pencils are available with leads of different hardness/softness you can get 6B, 5B, 4B, 3B, 2B and B, HB, F, H, 2H,3H,4H, 5H. You should be able to find the one that is just right for your for writing, drawing, sketching and doodling.
The leads are 2mm in diameter.

These pencil leads are manufactured super bonded to be break resistant. I find a really sharp pencil breaks easier than a blunter one
. These pencils are easy to sharpen using a standard pencil sharpener.

The pencil marks are easy to erase from paper using a good rubber.
The rubbers that come on the ends of some of the traditional Steadtler pencils are ok personally I prefer to use a seperate rubber.

The traditional Staetler pencil can be bought on or off line . on line you can buy packs of 12 for £3.14 to £3.48 depending on the lead at http://ukofficedirect.opnet.co for a few pence more you can buy the Steatdler traditional pencil with a rubber end .

At http://www.consumableitems.co.uk you can buy 12 HB traditional pencils for £2.79 including VAT 3B pencils costing £4.75 for a pack of 12. You can also buy these in packs of 3 from Spar for £4.40p.
