Advantages: Excellent range of colours, reasonable price
Disadvantages: None
Staedtler are a well known, good quality stationary brand, so when I saw these pens on Amazon, I decided to buy them. They were £5.47 for a set of 10 fineliner pens but retail for between £7 and £10 elsewhere. They have a 0.3mm point which is the standard size for fineliner pens. The barrel of the pens are silver whilst the caps match the ink colour of each pen. The colours contained within this pack are: yellow, orange, red, pink, light blue, dark blue, light green, dark green, brown and black. The colour assortment is exactly the same as the Staedtler tri-plus fibre tip pens.
The fineliners have a superfine metal-clad tip, an ergonomic triangular barrel but best of all, they are dry safe. This means you can leave the fineliner pens without their lids on for days without them drying up. This is perfect if you have children as they often put pens back into the pen pot without lids on them. Staedtler also claim that the fineliner pens wash out of most textiles, which again, is great if you have kids who can't help drawing on themselves or others.
When using the fineliners, the ink dries very quickly on the page, which is great if you are doing revision as you can get on quickly, and this is also great if your children are using them as they are less likely to smudge their artwork.
All of the colours are exceptionally well pigmented, which is important to me. All of the colours 'pop' on the page. These pens can be used for anything - writing cards, making revision more interesting, for children doing their drawings. Although as they are more pricey than other coloured pens, you may not want your little little children using them and ruining them unless you buy them on really good offer.
The packaging the fineliner pens comes in is great. It is a plastic 'closed' tray with a flip lid at the top to access the pens. I have always stored my pens in the original packaging as the colours are laid out so you don't have to go hunting for them in your pencil case.
The pens are really easy to write with, the ink flows onto the page nicely leaving you with smooth writing on the page. I have not had any experience with the nibs splitting like with cheaper brands of fineliners, however as mentioned already, if you have fierce children using them, they might split.
I can't fault these pens at all, they are simply great. I have to give them 5 stars, although they can be pricey, if you shop around you can get them for a good price. At £5.47 for the whole pack of 10, this works out at 54p per pen which I think is perfectly reasonable for the quality you get from Staedtler.
