Advantages: Nice, soft and absorbant
Disadvantages: None at all for me
When we first moved into our house we had to buy literally everything from new as we were both living with our parents at the time, this included towels for the bathroom, we decided to go for a cheap towel bale we actually bought two of these one black and one white one, this was three years ago, I actually regret buying white as they are looking very dingy now and the black ones are looking rather faded. I decided that it was time to swap my old bath towels for some new ones, I didn't really want to buy anything too expensive so decided to have a look in Tesco and buy just a couple of towels at a time and gradually swap them over. I was attracted to Tesco own brand bath towels in Aubergine, I particularly like this pretty pinky purple shade and it also went perfectly with the shower curtain I had purchased a couple of months before hand which had large pinky purple flowers over it, the towels were lovely and soft and very reasonably priced, perfect for what I wanted.
The Tesco Bath Towels look like any other bath towel, they are made from 100% cotton and have a nice thick pile to them. They are edged with a fabric type band in the same Aubergine colour so that it blends in perfectly with the main part of the towel. The towels are plain, however they do have two stripes going along them where it looks like the pile has been cut shorter, this is the only design on the towels. Personally I quite like the fact that the towels are plain as we only have a small bathroom so these do not look too over the top hung on the towel rail, the bright Aubergine colour is enough to brighten up the room without making it feel too small. The towels have a small label attached to the side white gives you the care instructions.
I had actually wanted a couple of new bath sheets as my husband always moans about regular bath towels and says they do not go round him, personally I have not problem, but I had a hunt around for some, they didn't actually have any in the Aubergine colour at the time so I opted for 2 of the regular bath towels instead (he would have to use the old bath sheets) As I have said I personally find the Tesco Bath Towels plenty big enough, each towel measures 70cm in length, and 127cm in width, in my opinion these are of a decent size, they are not too small however they are not so large that they are bulky to store or hang in the bathroom, when we have one of the bath sheets hanging in the bathroom I do struggle to fold it neatly to get it to hang nicely on the towel rail, they are a bit too big, however these towels fold neatly into four and are just the right size to be hung up. The fact that the towels fold up neatly and easily makes they easy to store as well, we keep ours in a draw under our bed and these towels fit in perfectly and are not too bulky.
The real test for the Tesco Aubergine Bath Towel was going to be when it was used, some towels I have used in the past really have not been absorbent at all and simply push the water around your skin without actually drying it, these towels are described as being made from 100% cotton to give more absorbency, when I had had my bath I wrapped myself in the new Tesco Bath Towel as usual and dried my self, I was very impressed with how well the towel absorbed the water and left my skin totally dry. I have also used the Tesco Bath Towels to wrap my hair in after I have washed it, and again I have been pleased with how well it has absorbed and held the water, after having my hair wrapped in one of these towels for a little while a lot of the water has been soaked up from my hair and into the towel allowing it to dry naturally much quicker. The towels also feel very soft next to your skin, despite their cheap price they do not feel hard or scratchy at all as some cheaper towels do.
Obviously certain products such as towels do get a lot of wear and are washed a lot, since buying my Tesco Aubergine Bath Towels I have lost count of the amount of times they have now been washed, however they have proved to be extremely hardwearing and durable, the colour has not faded at all and the towels have remained as soft as when I purchased them, some towels tend to go a bit hard after a lot of washing despite using fabric softener, however so far this has not been the case with these towels, they have remained soft and look as good as new. I usually wash mine on a 40 degree wash and this seems to be ideal to keep them looking and feeling fresh.
Obviously these towels come from Tesco and each towel cost me just £5.47, personally I thought this was excellent value for money, they towels are proving to be long lasting so in my opinion are worth the money, I did have a look at more expensive ones however the Tescos own brand towels appeared to be just as good yet half the price. I was more than happy to pay this price for such a good quality item.
The Tesco Bath Towels come in a variety of colours, as I have mentioned I bought the Aubergine ones, however the come in other colours such as Black, Blue, Brown, Beige, Cream, Green, Grey, Orange, Pink, Heather (a pale purple) silver and white. They do seem to cover most colours so it is likely that there is something to suit your colour scheme in your bathroom, I do however find that it is best to visit a larger Tesco store or go online to view the full range of colours as smaller branches tend to only have one or two colours available, our local Tesco only ever seems to have white, however we visited a larger Tesco about half an hour away from us and they had the full range of colours to choose from, but your can also get all of these online.
Personally I would definitely recommend the Tesco Bath Towel, they are of an excellent quality, highly absorbent and extremely soft, the towels wash well and do not fade or go hard as some cheap towels do. For me the bath towels are an ideal size as they are easy to store and also fold up nicely to hang on the towel rail in the bathroom. The towels also come in a large range of colours, although my favourite is the Aubergine which is the colour we brought but there is something for most people. I will definitely be swapping my old bath towels to the tesco Bath Towels as they are high quality and it is not going to cost a fortune to do so. Anyone looking to replace their old towels or even anyone moving into their first home should certainly consider these towels for their bathroom, the look good and are affordable.
Summary: I would cetainly recommend these
