Advantages: Soft, absorbent, gentle on skin, large, cheap
Me and my boyfriend moved into our first home together earlier in the year and while we did bring a few things that we already owned with us, we bought a majority of our furniture and household bits and bobs from new. Bath towels were one of the things that we needed to get as these are pretty much an essential and after a quick browse in a few different shops we decided on Tesco's own brand of towels because of the price as well as the quality.
These towels retail at £4.00 each which isn't dirt cheap but it's cheap enough which is good as it could have gotten quite expensive had they been a little more pricy because we decided to buy five so that we had plenty. I was impressed by the choice of colours and I decided to buy a few different colours. There wasn't any patterned designs as far as I could see - just plain, basic coloured towels. I got two dark red ones, a beige one, a cream one and an orange one.
I like that there are basic colours and bright colours as it provides a bit of choice for the customer and it allowed me to choose colours which would look the nicest in my bathroom and not clash with the decor. The towels are very average in appearence - they're the usual rectangular type shape and they look like any other towel to be honest! They're plain with two thick lines near the edge - this adds a little detail which is nice. The towels are lovely and soft with they have the usual fluffy texture of a towel.
Although they're nice and soft, they're not overlly fluffy and since I've had them the texture has slightly changed - it's still soft and gentle on my skin though. The towels are made from 100% cotton which I think is great considering the price and they're nice and thick and absorbent. I've never had any problems with these leaving any fluff or material fibres on my skin and they're soft and gentle enough to use to dry my eight month old daughter off after a bath.
The towels are quite large - they're wide and long and I can easily wrap one around me after my bath/shower. They're a little too large to wrap around my hair after I've washed it though, but I am really impressed with how large they are considering the price. They're the perfect size when folded up to be hung on the radiator hook and as long as I don't leave them all scrunched up they dry quite quickly. The towels can be washed and tumble dryed and mine all wash well - any talcum powder marks etc come out easily and they've not faded in colour or shrunk in the few months that we've had them.
Overall, highly recommended.
