Advantages: Work well - Durable fabric - Good value..

Disadvantages: None for me.

I have been married for a little over two years now and my husband and myself were very fortunate to receive some beautiful gifts and presents at the time of our wedding. One lovely gift was received from friends of my mum, who had thoughtfully given us two bath towels alongside a pretty candle holder. All three items were from Tesco.

I have used the two bath towels since they were received, and have found them to be of a reasonable enough quality throughout their use that I really had no hesitation in purchasing two small hand towels from my local (gigantic) Tesco store earlier this year, mainly because my experiences of using the Tesco Bath Towels was more than adequate for use in my household.

The two Bath Towels that we received as a gift are white in colour, and I do have to confess that this would never be my first choice as I prefer coloured towels that co-ordinate and match with the rest of the accessories in my bathroom. I had no real desire to exchange the white towels for another colour when we received them however, and of course white could never really be described as being the most offensive colour. Our towels were a gift of course, but I know from shopping in my local Tesco Store's Homeware Department that the Tesco Bath Towels cost in the region of £4.50, as @ the time of writing (December 2012).

There is a selection of colours to choose from, both in store in larger Tesco stores, as well as on their website which is at www.tesco.com, although postage costs may apply if you are purchasing online. The colours range from blues such as sky blue, navy and aqua to deeper shades such as red, purple and orange. This selection allows for a great choice and variety, in colours to suit most homes, I would have thought.

The Tesco Bath Towels I own have never let me down in terms of absorbency, which is probably down to the quality of the materials used. They are made from Cotton, in a sort of 'Terry' type fabric that feels extremely soft and is of course completely absorbent. I have used cheaply-branded towels before and found that they performed rather poorly in terms of coping with moisture, becoming 'soaked' far too easily which rendered them rather useless of course, given their intended purpose! The Tesco Bath Towels, in comparison, have no such flaw to their quality and I really have no complaints in terms of their ability to dry either body or hair effectively.

The towels are surprisingly thick - only a surprise, because of their purchase price - and this gives them a soft and delicate feel to them that is very welcome on my delicate, sensitive skin. I have found that this thickness has deteriorated slightly with age, but in my experience this is what happens with most brands of Bath Towel over time. I have found too that even though the Tesco Bath Towels are thick enough for their requirements, there is no overly 'heavy' feel to be found when using them, that would most definitely be off-putting for me. This is something I have found with other towels that are luxuriously thick and the extra weight just makes them feel more cumbersome for me to use, probably as a result of my ill health and the fatigue I suffer from. It is true to say that the Tesco Bath Towels are not the most luxuriously thick I have ever used, but it is also true to say that their thickness is adequate, and this makes them easier and more pleasant for me to use as a result.

Washing the towels is extremely easy to do, and I have never encountered any difficulties from doing so. The towels can be washed with a whole host of similar items, in my experience, such as flannels, and they always feel soft and fluffy after washing. I do find, however, that adding a little softening agent to the dispenser drawer of my washing machine is very beneficial to most bath towels, the Tesco ones included, and this allows the fibres to take on an even softer quality that I find most agreeable.

I'm surprised at how white the Tesco Bath Towels have remained, even though they have been used in my household on and off for approximately two years now. True, the once 'pristine' brightness that the towels' hue contained is rather diminished, but they have not taken on that familiar 'grey' shade that is the usual fate of white laundry that is of a poor quality. This is further evidence to me of the Tesco Towels being of a fairly high quality, and I don't have any complaints at all in this regard.

The towels dry easily, and I have popped them into my tumble drier on a handful of occasions, without incident. I tend to dry the majority of my laundry by hanging it up and only use my tumble drier when necessary, but I feel confident enough in the towels' quality to recommend them for this practice.

I really don't have anything negative to report about the Tesco Bath Towels and do feel they are a fairly worthwhile purchase. I would buy them again, particularly as their purchase price represents excellent value for money in my opinion. They are of a surprisingly good quality and certainly better than alternative towels I have used before that are something of a waste of time. For the reasons outlined in this review, the Tesco Bath Towels come with my full recommendation, together with full marks in the Dooyoo product rating score.

Summary: Good value bath towels from Tesco..
