Tesco Bath Towel
Advantages: Cheap enough and nice and soft.
Disadvantages: None for me.
On my last visit to England I decided to pop into Tescos and purchase myself a cheap bath towel as I like to travel with minimal stuff in my case as I always end up buying loads of stuff that takes up all the room in the case for the return trip.
I like my towels to be quite thick and have a bit of substance and this Tesco bath towel at three pounds fifty was a really good buy for me. The normal price is around five pounds I believe but I got it on a special offer. This towel is not too thick but has that lovely soft terry towel feel, which possibly makes it seem thicker than it actually is.
I purchased a red one being the Gooner that I am, which also made me feel at home as most of my towels back in Holland are red.
I find that some thick towels get too heavy when they are wet, which makes them cumbersome and irritating to use. This towel, as I said, is not too thick and so it doesn't absorb too much water or get too difficult to handle. It dried me quite well and felt soft to the skin. It was also a very adequate size as it was neither too hard to handle or too small to get a good coverage area when drying myself off. It does absorb enough water to leave you feeling dry however, so Tescos have got the thickness and absorbency of the towel just right.
The towel is made from cotton and the texture is lovely and soft and it has stayed that way over the last six months as I decided to take the towel back home with me when I returned to the Netherlands as I liked it so much. It has not frayed in any way or thinned out too much in any areas of the towel.
The towel washes without any problems on a suitable heat and although I always put like with like; i.e.: towels with towels, I wouldn't see any problem with washing this towel with other coloured products. I like to hang my washing out to dry but in the winter months I use either a clothes horse or my tumble dryer. The towel is perfectly OK being dried in the tumble dryer and always comes out nice and fluffy and warm and smells wonderful as I use a nice fabric conditioner when I wash it.
I usually wash a new towel before use to get rid of that cloying shop kept shelf smell, but as I was obviously staying in a hotel in another country I wasn't able to do this. The new smell wasn't actually too bad on this occasion but I do prefer to wash a new towel before use.
If you want a nice good quality towel that doesn't cost the earth then the Tescos bath towel is not a bad purchase and I would recommend it to anyone. I do not shop at Tescos as a rule and I am not a big fan of the shop but this towel is a good buy.
Summary: A good quality towel at a decent price.
