“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Christmas tree - with lights / Height: 6ft „
Christmas is my most favourite holiday and since this was the first year of me living alone and having space for a tree I had no-one to ask their opinion on and could have anything I wanted. Leaving it so late I had a bit of a limited budget and I am not a fan of green trees and seen some stunning black ones around and decided that was what I was looking for. Tesco had this Black 6ft Pre-Lit tree for £25, cheaper than Asda who are selling the exact same one for £35 so I went with that. It comes in a largish white box and isn't too heavy. The other good thing about it is that the box is deeper than for others I've had and so the branches weren't too squashed in and also it was packed away much easier than any other previously I've had. It comes in 3 parts that are just sloted together. The base has 4 plastic rods that slide into the main base attached to the bottom and so within 5 minutes max it was assemled. It comes with 100 clear lights that stay on constantly but honestly I didn't feel it was enough so for next year I'll definately be adding my own in as well. The branches are easy to pull out but the tree looks pretty bare and not at all full bodied. Even with the baubles on it, it just looked really sad to be honest and I had a good amount on there. The other thing I was annoyed about is that it is stated as 6ft, now I'm nowhere near 6ft probably around 5'6 and the tree was the same height as myself so a little misleading on that front. It's good value for the price but if you do have the money I'd definately go for something bushier and more full looking, even though it is artificial and black it does look nice it just needs a lot of adding to it to make it look special. My 2 year old pulled it over many times so it isn't really sturdy but I wasn't expecting it to be at what you pay for it. On a budget yeah not bad but not one I'd run out and buy again.
As this is the first year my partner has had a whole house to himself, he needed a bigger Christmas tree. Last year he had a small, 3 foot one from Tesco but this year we were looking for something bigger. After having a quick look around we realised Tesco was offering the best deal with 6ft pre lit trees for £25. I have since seen that Asda do an almost identical tree. The tree came packaged in a strong and sturdy white cardboard box with a large picture of the tree on the front. The box is a decent size and the tree wasn't really squashed in there so hopefully we wont have any trouble getting it back in there when we take it down! The tree came in 3 pieces which you just slot together, it also has a plastic base which you just slot the tree into in order to keep it stable. The tree was really quick to sort out, usually I hate the job of pulling out all of the branches but this took literally 10 minutes and it was looking really good already by the time we had got the branches right. As the tree is pre-lit, we didnt use any more lights. We were going to get some more but we found the ones on the tree looked fine. There are 100 lights on the tree which are clear in colour. Sadly the lights dont have different patterns and instead they are just on all of the time, however if you did want something different you could always add your own. The cable for the lights is 1.5m long so there is enough to reach the nearest plug socket. The tree is of course artificial and it is of really good quality. Once the tree had all our decorations on it looked fantastic. We have had it up a month now (don't worry we will be taking it down very soon)! And it still looks just as good as when we first put it up, numerous people have commented on how nice the tree looks. I think this is a really good tree for the price. It looks modern and stylish and saves you adding your own lights. Worth thinking about for Christmas 2011!
