I was sick of battling with frozen solid ice cream and bending my spoons so bought a scoop on impulse. I bought this Tesco Value Ice cream scoop ages ago for I think around a pound. It was pointless spending anymore on a scoop as I just wanted something that would spoon out ice cream.

This stainless steel scoop is just a plain but toughened spoon, it hasn't got any fancy features like a push out lever or even a particularly pointed end to the spoon for extra diggability (I think I've made that word up). The scoop is deeper than an ordinary dessert spoon and the metal is thicker. The plastic handle has indentations making it comfortable to hold. It's fixed solidly to the spoon and where it attaches has never bent or been compromised whilst in use. The spoon is dishwasher safe, but I just wash it in the sink as normal.

The scoop digs ice cream out easy enough, importantly for me it doesn't bend all over the place which drives me mad. It doesn't make balls or anything fancy, just gets the ice cream out of the tub. The scoop isn't particularly deep and maybe could be a little deeper, which would maybe produce a better ball for a cone but not really a problem. Even better is dipping the scoop in hot water first, doing this hasn't damaged it.

Obviously it still takes some effort to dig out hard ice cream, but using this scoop makes it easier. The spoon is adequate for the job, hasn't broken and isn't cosmetically damaged.

I would recommend it and would buy it again at that price.
