Tesco Party Poppers
Advantages: good fun
Disadvantages: some dud ones
Christmas and New Year just would not be the same without party poppers, my family loves them. I bought a packet of Tesco party poppers for use over Christmas and New Year last year. For Christmas dinner I set the table with a party popper each and a few scattered around the table. I used most of the others on New years eve at midnight!

These cost £2.47 from Tesco and you get 50 in the packet. More than enough!
The poppers are all different colours and made from cheap plastic. There is a string at one end that you need to roll out and pull to release the streamers. The poppers are filled with two or three small reams of tissue paper streamers and as you pull the string, it fires the little cardboard case out and the streamers propel themselves across the table.
The poppers give off a little burning smell similar to the crack of the crackers. They do manage to fire out quite a distance and the game on Christmas day was trying to fire them over at a sleeping granddad. How mean we are!
Out of the 50 poppers we used only four did not work. The strings pulled straight out of the bottom and nothing fired! They were quite cheap though and you should always expect a couple of dud ones! The streamers are colourful, pinks, whites, greens and blues and look very celebratory!
Care should be taken when popping these and you should not do it too close to people's faces. They also make a loud popping noise so could scare small children or wake up sleeping granddads!
Summary: A good party treat
