“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Pens „
I picked these swirl gel pens up from my local Tesco recently knowing I had my niece coming for the weekend, she's into fancy coloured pens, paper, drawing, writing etc so I bought a few bits and pieces to keep her amused, well some of the time at least. The Swirl Gel Pens are sold in a pack of 5 and cost £2.00.
The swirl pens come in very basic packaging just a clear plastic wallet with a flap over top. The plastic case has a small card insert which is brown in colour and displays the Tesco logo and just the words Swirl Pens.
There are 5 different coloured pens in the pack consisting of pink with purple and blue swirls in the ink, blue with green and purple swirls, purple with pink and blue swirls, green with yellow swirls and yellow with pink and green swirls. The pens have a push on lid which clips tightly down, they are made from clear coloured plastic allowing you to see how much ink is left in them which is always handy.
When it came to using the pens I found them quite scratchy, my niece on the other hand was thrilled with them, they did need to be used quite a bit before the ink flowed properly and I noticed the ink does seem to go down quite quickly.
Most of the colours showed up well on white paper apart from the yellow pen, any writing or drawing with this one could only be seen in a certain light, however this didn't seem to upset my niece who simply announced it was her "secrets" pen. The swirl pens are ridged making them easy to grip and felt comfortable to use.
Overall for children these are not too bad, the different coloured inks are a bit of a novelty for them and you can see the different colours in anything that's written, personally I would find them very difficult to write any more than a few words with as they are a bit scratchy but my niece was happy with them. I don't think they will last very long though, the ink was well down on them after a couple of days.
I cant say I really recommend the Tesco Swirl Gel Pens, in my opinion they were a bit pricey for what they were but I daresay my niece would.
