Tesco Value A4 White Paper
Advantages: Good quality, price
As a student I go through a tonne of paper. I'm always having to print bits and bobs, especially in the revision season, and I also often use plain paper if I'm doing mindmaps or diagrams to aid my revision. I would say I go through anywhere between 5-20 sheets a week even though I tend to recycle old sheets by simply writing my notes on the back or around the margins. This means I need to buy in bulk and not only for cost effectiveness.
Tesco Value's A4 paper comes in a pack of 500 sheets. This is perfect and lasts me a while, especially as I tend to buy around 3 packs at a time. They cost £2.50 currently so I'm able to get 1500 sheets for £7.50 which is a huge bargain. The paper is 75gsm which is a reasonable thickness as it mean usually when I'm writing on it my pen doesn't come through to the other side unless I'm using a particularly thick pen like a marker or something. The paper doesn't look or feel particularly luxurious and it comes in a standard white paper cover which you simply open up from one end and slide the paper out. I store mine in this usually and it manages to keep my unused sheets looking fine.
I own an injet printer and so when I first bought this paper I was a little worried about how it would come out. In my experience black text comes out fine so long as I am printing evenly and not in a huge bulk at one time or else it can start to smudge a bit. Whenever I've printed coloured images/text it is a bit hit and miss, sometimes it is excellent quality (although this is usually when my page varies from black and coloured ink) and other times it becomes streaked and looks as if my ink is running out even though its brand new. This is quite rare however and usually its excellent quality particularly for the price.
The paper it pretty standard and exactly as you'd expect. Its good quality, gets the job done and not to mention cheap! I've never had any issues with this paper and have used it pretty consistently for months unless I happen to be in another store when I'm in desperate need of paper right at that moment. I would definitely recommend.
Summary: A cheap alternative for your paper needs
