Tesco Value Air Freshener
Advantages: no not really
Disadvantages: doesnt really work
Let's face it, smell is all very subjective. Take aftershaves. One man's dream scent is another man's idea of a boggy swamp aroma. I like to think that my acute sense of smell serves me well. I can usually detect a bad odour a mile off and I am very sensitive when it comes to aerosols. Some very strong aerosols set my nose off and cause sneezing fits. You would have to be on a very tight budget to consider spending a mere thirty pence on an air freshener. A value air freshener at that. Is fresh air something that you can compromise on. It's like having a stinky bin and thinking 'this reeks, but let's just eradicate half of the smell and have a slight odour lingering.' You would ideally want to eliminate the entire smell.
The Tesco air freshener has certainly undercut its rivals in the price wars by nearly half price. But what you are getting here is something very cheap and not very cheerful. When masking an odour, you want to mask it well, at least with a lovely floral or herbal scent. The scent that this delivers is pretty much non existent. It is rather like squirting a bottle of air at a smell. Sure the pump action spray is easy enough to use and you can have some fun zapping smells. But there is no flowery smell to provoke the nose. Just a smell...slightly chemical, not that inviting. Oh the bottle is really is really dull to look at too, so that gets nul points.
It fails to eradicate odours. Cat litter trays still stunk in our house, all it does is provide another smell to go with the smell you already have. Thus not solving the problem, but adding to it. I would spend a few more pence and go for a Neutradol spray and get the job done properly, or better still...save even more money and open a window. Problem solved!
