Tesco Value Assorted Pens 10 Pack
Advantages: Cheap and write well. Easy to hold comfortably in the hand.
Disadvantages: None for me.
I bought these pens because late last year I was making up some shoe boxes of goodies to go to a charity which send the boxes out to children in Romania, Ukraine and a few other countries of which are then given to the children at Christmas time. These children live in a poor environment and never receive any presents for Christmas. My friend asked me if I could do a few boxes and pop a few cheap items into them for the children and I was very happy to buy some items for the little children.
The pens come inside a plastic packet which is transparent and very basic looking. No fancy design and just the usual colours of the Value range from Tesco. There are 10 pens in the pack and so quite a lot for the price. There are 4 blue, 3 black and 3 red pens, so a mixture of pens for general use. The stem of each pen is also a transparent plastic and they have a coloured removal top. The tops are very easy to pull off the pen with no problems having to keep on tugging etc. Also the tops can be placed at the bottom of the pen to store and not lose it and it just pushes back into place again after using the pen. I myself don't always do this and just either lose the top or throw it in the recycle bin. They are also very comfortable pens to hold and not flimsy, they don't bend when pressure is used to write with them. They are strong ones to hold.
The nib of them is sharp and the ink flows well onto paper, the ink gives an even line on the paper too, not quite a thicker line as some other pens but adequate enough to see it on the paper. I do find with some of them that I need to scribble on the paper for a few seconds to release the ink flow but it isn't a major issue for myself and I am sure the children will know how to do this when they begin using a pen which doesn't flow well immediately. Not all of the pens need to be used in this way but I do find some branded pens need to be used in the same way to release the ink, so I am happy with the way these write after a few seconds of scribbling. I actually bought 5 packs of these and kept one pack for myself because I am forever losing pens and I need some more. I have found they are not as strong an ink as some other brands but they do the job very well. I can see my writing clear enough on the paper too. I wanted to also test them first before I placed any into the boxes because I didn't want any of the children who receive a box not to be able to write with a good enough pen. These one are really suitable for the children in my opinion. The children need some pens and stationery to use for learning to write etc and these are more than ideal for them to use in my opinion.
I have used the black colour to write on a document which required me to write only in black ink. The black showed up well on the document and clear to see by just writing in the normal way. I have used the red colour to draw circles around my family tree notes on paper. I write in either a blue or black coloured ink but when I am wanting to go back to a name on my family tree I like to be able to see a name I am working on at the time. The red shows also well on the notes. Stands out without having to keep going over the word with the pen.
The blue I just use for general writing and for writing a shopping list etc. All the colours write in exactly the same way, there is no difference at all in the way they appear on the paper. I have used them on normal writing paper and also on cardboard. I think these pens are ideal for older school children who may need some extra pens in a pencil case and to just add a few more in the case, just in case they lose one of their favourite pens. They would most certainly be a quick fix pen for their pencil case in my opinion. Also ideal for just having a few extra pens to jot things down at home.
I am so pleased I bought these pens and kept one pack for myself to use at home. They are more than suitable for the little children to receive in their gift boxes at Christmas time and I am sure they will be delighted when they open their box and see a pack of 10 pens which they will be able to use for quite a while.
They only cost 35p for the pack when I bought them just before Christmas and for this price I think it is an amazingly good value price. The quality of the pens is really good considering they are so cheap. The pens are going strong since I bought them. I would most definitely buy these ones again in the future because they write really well and much better than I expected them to be. Cheap enough to buy for any budget in my opinion and well worth the money.
I do like to do my bit for charity whenever I can and for the little children who have no pens to learn how to write, these pens will help them enormously along the way in my opinion. Bless their little hearts. Just cannot go wrong for 35p.
I am not sure how long these pens will actually last ink wise because mine are all still in use but I'm sure they will last for quite a while before the ink runs out. If I am on the telephone, I often doodle on a piece of paper lol, this is a bad habit I have done for many years and these pens come in handy for my conversations on the phone to pass the time away if someone is boring me a little or nattering on a little lol. They colour the picture or circle I have drawn really well lol.
I highly do recommend these pens for anyone looking for a very cheap set of pens to add to a collection or just to keep handy in a drawer for when they need a pen at home immediately.
Also on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give these pens 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
