We often have visitors over at our house on numerous of occasions for all different types of events and get togethers. Whether this is a light lunch or a barbeque if there's more than 10 people attending then I tend not to use proper crockery but something much more simpler as in throwaway plates and cups. The reason for this is there's less chance of any breakages and it saves time on the washing up and mess afterwards, after use these can simply be emptied into the bin and thrown away.

Over the Christmas period we often have a family get together so whilst browsing in Tesco one afternoon I came across the Tesco Value Paper Plates. The first thing which attracted me to the product was the price, just £1.20 for 50 plates, an utter and total bargain which I'm sure the majority of savvy spending people would agree.

The plates come packaged in a clear plastic wrapping with a thin piece of paper which as the distinctive red and blue Tesco Value Logo and which also states the product description and information.

The plates look as though they have been recycled and have that off white colour to them. The outer edge to the plates are ribbed and the rest of the plate are of a smooth texture. The plates are made of cardboard, definitely not the thickest cardboard but a paper plate all the same even though they are rather on the thin side. These measure at approximately 22cm in diameter making them a rather generous size.

I served party like food on the plates for example; light sandwiches, samosas, salad, quiche, chicken wings etc. As you can see from the list these are light types of food and the value paper plates carried these quite well although I admit that a little bit of grease/oil from the samosas and chicken wings did seep through the plates lightly which as a result made the plates more flimsy like and not quite as strong.

For the price i do rate these plates, cheap and perfect for any light party food. Although if using these for any more substantial types of food as in jacket potatoes or barbeque food then i definitely wouldn't be using these, sadly i doubt that these would stand the test of time.
