Tesco Value Plastic Cups
Disadvantages: A bit thin
Seeing as I am the only one out of all of my friends at university who lived in a flat last year and not in halls, it was obvious that my place would be where everyone came to drink before we went out. My flat isn't very big and I shared with two other people so fitting my friends in was sometimes a problem. Due to having quite a few people in a small space and with them being a bit drunk, I was worried about having glasses broken all over the place.
As a Tesco Value product, these cups are only available from Tesco. For a pack of 100 white plastic cups, it will only cost you £1.94. For 1.9p per cup, I didn't even care whether or not they split at some point (as long as it didn't mean drink on my floor). Each cup is stacked inside another and they are covered by clear plastic, holding them together and acting as the packaging. On the front of the packaging is a white sticker with the usual Tesco brand information, what the product is and how many cups you get in the pack.
Each cup is about 4 inches high and 3 inches wide (measuring from the rim of the cup) but they do go down so they are a little thinner towards the bottom. The cups are a very cheap white colour with grooves going all the way down. Unlike some other Tesco Value products, these do actually feel like they are worth 1.9p per cup but I don't mind this at all, especially when they wont be used for very long. That being said, the plastic is very smooth and doesn't hurt or feel rough when drinking from the product.
These cups are very lightweight and easy to hold. As you pour liquid into the cup, it fills nicely without being misshaped at any point. I feared that the cups would bend a tiny bit because they are so cheap and thin but I needn't have worried about this. The cups don't split or break as you put liquid in them even if you fill them right up to the very top. Also, these cups are a lot stronger than I would have imagined them to be. The base is very sturdy and even when filled with liquid, they stand up and don't fall over. Like any cup though, they can be easily knocked over.
While I do only really use these when people come round before going out, they can be used for a lot of other things. A pack of these cups would be great for BBQs now the weather is getting to be nice enough, taking out to the beach or for picnics and especially for kids parties. As well as the general uses for cups, these could also be a great thing for kids who like to paint as they would hold a good amount of paint and as they don't fall over, would prevent a lot of spills. These glasses are also a lot safer than always using glass or porcelain cups as you aren't as likely to smash them and hurt yourself.
I really love having a pack of these cups in the house. A pack of 100 lasts quite a while even when people are misplacing their drinks and using a new one. I can go out a few times and still have some cups left over. As a whole pack lasts so long, they are amazing value for money and make life a whole lot easier. I don't have to worry about my own nice glasses being broken and having to shell out for some new ones and these are easier to clean up. All I need to do is collect them together and throw them in a bin bag.
Summary: A good product
