Advantages: Protects your glasses, saves washing up

Disadvantages: Very thin and flimsy, knocked over easily

We threw a surprise party during the summer for my mother in law who had hit a significant birthday and my husband, very kindly (!) offered our house to be the place for the party, which meant we became the hosts with a one year old running around. Thankfully other family members gave a big helping hand, and we all brought supplies for the party. Since there were going to be a few children at the party, we didn't want to use our proper glasses for drinks in case of breakage, so we opted for plastic cups, and given what they were being used for before being discarded, I didn't see the point in buying expensive ones, so purchased these Tesco value plastic cups.

Now, I can't recall how much I paid at the time, but a pack of 25 cups currently cost just under 60p from Tesco, which is obviously extremely cheap. 25 cups was plenty for us, but if you are having a party for a larger crowd, you may get better deals for a greater quantity of cups.

It is hardly surprising however that these cups are very very thin and again I am sure there are better quality cups out there, but there were ideal for what I wanted them. I wouldn't say that they could hold a large amount of drink, so refilling these is inevitable, but they are probably a good size for children who wouldn't necessarily be drinking as much in one go.

As I said, these cups are thin and flimsy and it doesn't take a lot for one to be knocked over, so you do need to bear this in mind if you are giving them to children who will very often carelessly put them down and you could end up will spilled drink all over carpet etc. Even as an adult I found that my cup could be easily knocked even if sitting on something. On the evening of the party some people ate their food out in our back garden as the weather was nice but found that even if they still had a little bit of drink left in their glass, even the lightest of breezes could knock one of these over!

FOr what we needed them for, these were still ideal cups and it was wonderful not having to do as much washing up at the end of the evening as we could simply through these cups away. I wouldn't have any hesitation in purchasing these again, and as long as you are aware of just how paper thin then these are an ideal cup when you don't want to be using your good glasses at a party for example!

Summary: Ideal cup for parties
