Tesco Value Plastic Cups
Advantages: The Price
I have bought Value cups every year for various occasions for a long time now. Tesco offer a good price for these so I don't bother to look elsewhere which saves time. You get 25 plastic cups for 59p or 100 for £1.47, making them about 2p each. Branded ones cost alot more than this and though I find the value range cups thinner than dearer cups they're adequate so that's what I stick with.
The cups themselves come wrapped up and stacked inside each-other so don't take up much room. The label is basic and tells you what they are and to wash before use (I don't)- they're not suitable for the dish washer. White with ridges down them they're easy to grip. The lip is smooth with no sharp edges. Their size is average about 4 or 5 inches tall, and slightly tapered towards the bottom. They are small and need quite a few top ups. The plastic is thinner than some cups and do feel more flimsy but okay.
These are great for cold drinks which is what I mainly use them for. I know I probably shouldn't but when I have my sister and her kids round for Halloween I use these for hot drinks. Tomato Soup and Hot Chocolate don't melt the plastic even though when first poured into the cups the liquid is scolding hot. Obviously the cups are hot to touch as they're not polystyrene so we wait until they've cooled slightly then they're perfectly alright. The cups are light in weight which makes them less stable when placed on a table or floor so we keep hold of them mostly.
Although disposable I do wash and reuse them as many times as is possible ie if they haven't been bitten or squashed, they wash and dry well and come up like new- apart from red soup which stains. The durability of these depends on how abused they are, they are easy to split when squeezed. Also when washing I sometimes split them by putting the sponge or cloth in too hard. During use we've never had a problem with them doing this.
These are convenient to use and save on the washing up if you don't want to re use them. I would recommend them and will continue to buy them. 5 stars for the price.
Summary: These cups are perfectly adequate for use
