Tesco Value Platters
Advantages: Great for party food
Disadvantages: One time use
It was the day before my sons party and we realised we had the plates cups cake everything we could think of but nothing to serve the food up from. My husband popped to Tesco and came back with 2 packs of these regal platters. In each pack you receive 3 foil platters for the price of £2.75. They can also be picked up online with your grocery shopping if you wish.
Ours differ from the picture above but only slightly they are the same in all appearances apart from they had small handles either side to make it a lot easier to carry with food on them as otherwise I would have to balance them o my hands and that is prone to disaster with me and the food would probably end up all over the floor. I found these easy to carry by the handle but my husband complained it was very tight for his hands and he opted to just balance the platters on his hand.
They have a fair size dish in the middle of the platters and then the sides start to become raised so that it can hold the food on without them being able to slide off very easily which is perfect for when you are carrying things like sausage rolls and sandwiches as they do not end up over the floor. They are a perfect size we were able to separate each food on to each platter with ease and I was surprised how much they were able to hold. They are very well made too they do not dip when food I piled on them and they are very steady.
The platters them self are rather thick so you are able to put warm food on them without feeling the heat too much underneath while you are carrying them though of course as they are tin you can still feel some heat. They are not the best thing to look at but to be honest when you are throwing a party for 10 screaming toddlers the last thing on my mind is how fancy the serving dishes age they were perfectly happy picking food off them and it made I a lot easier for me to tidy up after the party was finished.
They are disposable platters so are Ideal for one use but we washed ours and used them for a picnic the next day and they worked perfectly well so they can be used more than once if desired. They can also be recycled after use which is a plus side for me.Over all I think these are great for parties they help keep tidying up after minimal and are a great size for serving up food. They work out around 90 pence each which is a fair price to pay in my opinion and I will use them again in the future.
Summary: A handy buy
