Tesco Value Platters
Advantages: Good quality for value range, can be reused and hold a decent amount of food on them
Disadvantages: Ideally could do with being a little deeper
I bought these platters during Christmas when I was having a lot of my family round and I was putting on a buffet for everyone and needed plenty of platters for all the food. These did the job wonderfully and I really can't fault them.
They came from the Tesco Value range and cost £2.50 for a pack of 5 platters. The platters are oval shape and made from silver foil. Unlike the paper plates in the value range these just seem a little bit better quality and are just that little bit sturdier.
Although sturdier than the paper plates I would still only recommend that you put lighter food on them as anything too heavy might cause them to bend a little bit. They have got flatter sides which is to make them easier to carry when you have food on them and this really does help with stopping them from bending when carrying them through with food on them.
The one thing that I would want different is that I would have liked them to have been deeper so that I could have got more food in them especially things like lasagne but this wasn't a big problem as most food will go on them ok as they are but it still would have been nice. I saw ones that were deeper but these were about double the price and I wouldn't have been willing to pay this so I would happily buy these again without them being deeper for this price.
I found these to be great for all the foods that I put on them both hot and cold it didn't make a difference to how sturdy the platter was. I worried a little bit that hot food might warp the platter but it was absolutely fine with it on.
I originally bought these thinking that it would save washing up and I would be able to just throw them away afterwards but after using them I gave them a quick wipe down and they were as good as new so it seemed like a shame to throw them away so they are now in one of my kitchen cupboards ready to use again the next time I have people over or throw one of the kids a party.
