Advantages: Cheap and ideal for parties
Disadvantages: None
I mentioned in my Tesco Value Paper Plates review that my partner hosts matches for his junior teams against other out of area teams and when this happens we (meaning I) have to be a wonderful host and provide food and refreshments as when we travel to these games food is always put on for us so we are just doing the same for them.
We (and I mean I!) generally just do cold party food items as they are easy to do and most kids will happily and easily eat them. I always used to take the food down to the pitch on my usual dinner plates but after a small accident where I had two plates smashed I decided to look for a new alternative and a few months ago I bought again from Tesco their foil platters.
The Tesco Value Everyday Foil Platters were right next to the Tesco Value Paper Plates and I thought for a pack of 5 costing £2.50 they would definitely be ideal considering they won't break and if they do get damaged I certainly wouldn't mind! Tesco do a great range of disposable items from cutlery to plates to cups and the foil platters are available both in store and on their website.
The platters come in a pack of 5 only and come wrapped in a clear, thin cellophane type material and just have the Tesco Value label featuring the product name on the inside of the cellophane. Being a value range the packaging is never going to be much and to be fair foil platters don't need exciting packaging! To open you simply just rip the cellophane which tears easily and you just take out of the platters as and when you need to.
The platters are silver in colour and are slightly oval in shape. The outer perimeter of the platters are slightly raised so the food can easily stay in place without rolling off the sides. Considering they are a value item from Tesco they are a decent thickness and are actually quite sturdy, they are certainly not thin and flimsy making them ideal for me to transport them containing the food. However, if heavy handed with them they do obviously bend.
The fact that the pack comes with 5 platters for me is ideal as I do use a range of sandwiches and party food and the size of the platters can easily help me cater for around 100 hungry kids and they do hold a decent amount of food. I do generally line them with napkins as I find that after the food has been completely demolished I can wash them clean and then re-use them rather than just chuck away although for 50p per platter there are times I have just chucked them but I do try and re-use items where I can!
I find that these foil platters are incredibly handy and for kids football games, parties etc they definitely come in useful. I know my mum uses them when she has guests round and just covers them with posh napkins to make them just look a little posher and they do the trick! They are an ideal item to help contain food as well as save time if you just bin them after use as it saves washing up - ideal for kids parties! For me, they have saved any more of my plates from being damaged so I can easily give them 5 stars and recommend them to all!
