Advantages: Great Value
As mentioned in my previous review titled 'Paper, Paper read all about it' my wife and I held a party at our house on Boxing Day. I did my food shop at my local Tesco store, and along with the food, drink and paper plates I also purchased a pack of Tesco Value Platters.
This was kind of an impulse buy really, as I just happened to notice the platters next to the paper plates that I was purchasing, and so I decided to give them a try, as I thought it might be nice to arrange some of the food onto platters, rather than have it all on large plates.
The platters come in a pack of 5 and they cost £2:50 equating to 50p for each single platter. The come wrapped up together in a thin layer of cellophane, and have the usual Tesco Value label clearly displayed in the centre of the pack. The packaging is very simple, as you would expect from a Tesco value product, but it works very well, as you can see exactly what you are getting through the clear cellophane.
The platters are foil platters, and as such they are silver in colour, and they are a fairly standard design. They are slightly oval in shape and have raised sides to keep the contents safely on the platter. They are obviously a cheap platter, but they still have a decent sturdiness to them, which makes them easy to carry about and move around on a table. The base of the platter is rounded and flat, making it sit nice and even on a flat surface.
These platters are pretty versatile, and can be used for almost any food. I used 4 of them for our party, 2 for sandwiches, 1 for sausage rolls, and 1 for chicken drumsticks.
They did their job very well, and kept their shape, without bending, meaning that after using them, I simply gave them a wash in the sink, and put them in my cupboard for the next time I'm hosting a party involving food. Of course if required they can just be disposed of, but this would be pretty wasteful, as they are still in such good condition.
I used the platters as they were, but if required you could cover the platters in napkins or cloths to change their plain appearance, or add some alternative colour.
Overall these platters are a good value purchase. At 50p per platter they offer value for money, for a decent product which is useful at parties, and they can be re-used. They look pretty good, and work well for putting piles of food onto, instead of using just a basic food plate, adding a little touch of class in my opinion.
Thanks for reading.
