Tesco Value Platters
Advantages: Price, use, re-usable, looks
I seem to be queen of the buffet recently, and these platters are an easy way of presenting and transporting food for parties and special occasions. I initially bought them for my daughter's first birthday party, and have actually re-used them since. Here is my review -
**Price and Availability**
The Tesco Value Platters are available in larger branches of Tesco supermarkets priced at £2.50 for five platters, making them a very reasonable 50p a platter. This is actually on par with Poundland where two comparable size platters are £1, which of course is ok if you only need two, but otherwise you'd need to buy six at a price of £3 if you needed five as in the Tesco pack.
The Tesco Value Platters are made from a thin foil, but it's very strong foil. They're shaped in a long oval and 'stamped' with a fine pattern and a stepped rim around the edge, which is rolled foil. For the money they look very nice indeed.
I prefer to line my Tesco Value Platters with paper doilies (from Poundland!) though you can use disposable serviettes or simply leave them as is. I've used them for the following:
Sandwich 1/4 platters (I've found that a Tesco Value Platter holds around 30 triangles)
Mini sausages / pork pies (these seem to be the heaviest things but the tray holds them up well)
Breadsticks and Dips
...and so on. The only things I find don't work well with the Tesco Value Platters are crisps, salad and anything that fares better in a high sided bowl, of which I purchased a few from Poundland so I'm not too bothered if they go walkabout.
They're incredibly versatile, and they're just thinner in length than a standard fridge which allows you to make the platters up the night before or the morning of, and keep cold (don't want any food poisoning now!)
**Recycle or Reuse**
I found that after our buffet we could simply throw away the lining doilies and pop the Tesco Value Platters into the dishwasher. They came out good as new - no dints, no discolouration, nothing! They were popped into the cupboard and sat waiting a few months until they were used for our daughter's baptism buffet, then again a few months later at Christmas - talk about value for money!
After three runs, they were getting a bit bashed so we popped them into our metal recycling bin, and I'll be sure to buy more next time we need them.
I can't recommend the Tesco Value Platters more! At 50p a tray and re-usable to boot, they're the ultimate in value for money. They actually look lovely on a buffet table filled with food, and they're recyclable when you've finished with them, too. Why have the hassle of trying to squeeze things onto paper plates or trays when you can fit lots on to these value platters, store in the fridge and transport them easily, and not have to worry!
5 out of 5 stars from me for Tesco Value Platters - if you are having a party or any sort of gathering with a buffet, then you can do no better.
