The Original Cook's Matches
Advantages: lights well, cheap
Disadvantages: light whatever it is quick before you burn your fingertips lol
These matches for me are actually quite nostalgic and remind me much of childhood! In my mums house we used to have a gas cooker which required the old traditional way of lighting a flame and turning the knob simultaneously to get any kind of fire going! We always had a box of these in the drawer next to the cooker and these were our lifesaver but nowadays I use matches very rarely and so these last absolutely ages!
- Packaging -
The box is quite a mustard yellow and is rather large thin cardboard type with a sleeve where you can slide part of the box out which reveals all the matches inside. There is a striking panel on the outer of the box, where with a quick and easy swipe of the match tip against it, the match easily becomes alight. The box is simple and durable, and stands out in my drawer of tit bits so its always easy to find!
- Using the matches -
I am not a smoker, but I do like fragrances so I enjoy the odd scented candle and my partner bought me a really nice incense ornament and some sticks of incense which I also let waft around the home from time to time. I find these matches really easy to light when striking against the box and also they are rather long so I don't suffer any burns! I used to hate using them when I was younger, as to light the oven I had to shove my hand with the lighted match right at the back of the cooker and always feared burning my hand as the flame seemed to travel down the matchstick quite quickly and I would have to wave the match to put it out before it burnt off my fingertips! This however is not the case nowadays (I'm sure no-one still uses this kind of cooker, god bless my electric one!) so for lighting candles and incense these have been perfect.
- Overall -
These are really handy matches and are great for use around the home for lighting things like candles and incense. I bought a box of these absolutely ages ago so can't actually remember where from, but I am sure I paid no more than 70p or so and a box contains over 200 matches which is really good value. I find this brand to be reliable and last ages so I would definitely recommend them, just exercise caution (as you always should with matches anyway!) and you will love these.
