Advantages: erm....none
Disadvantages: smells horrible, looks horrible, takes ages to dry
I have never really understood the need for tipp ex, I have used it in the past but have always found it to be more of a nuisance than a useful too for correcting my mistakes.
It comes in a small little white bottle with a lid that screws off, attached to the inside of the lid is a stick with a piece of foam on the end in the shape of a wedge. Tipp-ex comes in which (I have never seen it in any other colour) and is supposed to be applied over mistakes when writing, rather than just crossing it out. Once it has dried you are then (supposedly) able to re-write over the top.
I have never found tipp-ex useful and I dont really have anything positive to say about the stuff. I find that it drips easily, so as you take the lid off and move towards your mistake you end up with drips on your page. I also think the foam wedge thing holds too much liquid so you always have too much on your applicator. Once you cover up your mistake it sticks out like a sore thumb anyway as the tipp-ex is always a much bridger white than my lined paper. I also find that you have to apply quite a bit to cover up the original mistake well, which then takes aaages for the tipp-ex to dry. If like me, you are a bit impatient then you end up (like me) trying to write over slightly damp tipp-ex which makes an awful mess. In addition to this if you manage to wait for it to dry completely I find my pens always look different written over tipp-ex than on the actual page so whatever word I have written over the tipp-ex sticks out from the rest of the text as it looks different.
I will never understand why people dont just neatly cross mistakes out by putting a line through them, it looks neater, takes less time, and saves you the money of buying some tipp-ex. My final critism is that the stuff smells horrible!
So, dont buy it - its not worth it!
Summary: silly stuff
