Ugg Australia Ugg Care Kit 510
Advantages: Good protection
I own a number of pairs of Ugg Boots and I absolutely love them but at over £100 a pair they are definitely an investment boot and as such I will do anything I can to protect them. When I got my first pair I bought the care kit as well just for the pure fact that I wanted to keep them nice and look after them and yes, I guess you could probably buy cheaper sheepskin protectors but I like the fact that these products are made by the Ugg company and tailored specifically for your Ugg Boots.
The Ugg Care consists of an Ugg cleaner and conditioner, an Ugg Sheepskin protector, and a brush. I must first admit that I have never used the cleaner and conditioner, I never wear my boots in the rain or to walk over muddy fields or anything like that. I guess I am quite anal about the boots but I like to keep them clean to begin with so I have never had a need for this part of the care kit but I have friends who say that it works really well. Obviously as you cannot put the boots in the washing machine this cleaner and conditioner works on the surface of the boots to tackle any stains that you may get on your boots.
The main reason I got this kit was for the sheepskin protector. I have used suede sprays on shoes before so I knew I wanted to get a spray that would work on these boots before I wore them for the first time. The spray is quite watery based, not really like a spray you get from a hairspray can. I put my hand into the boot and then hold the spray a ways away from the boot and spray it all over. You can target parts if you want but I find its much better to just spray all over the boot. The fabric will go a bit darker as obviously you have just sprayed a liquid on it but when it dries it goes back to the original colour of the boot. It does not take long for them to dry but I tend to do it overnight just to make sure they are fully dry and protected before I wear them. I tend to reapply this protector once every couple of months, you do not need any more than that and so I have only ever bought one can of spray so far. I really think the spray works. If for example I do get any rain spots or the odd bit of dirt on my boots I just go home and brush it off with the brush that comes with this kit and the spot comes straight off without damaging the boot fabric underneath. It's almost as if you have coated the sheepskin with a layer of protection and this holds the dirt away from your boots.
A few years on and although they look worn in my boots are still nice and clean and still look very presentable. A care kit costs £21 from the Ugg website but you can also buy them from shoe stores where Ugg boots are sold.
