      a lovely gift idea

When myself and my husband got married almost a year ago, we received some lovely personalised gifts from our family to remember the day with. One of our surprise gifts that arrived through the post a couple of weeks after the wedding, complete with photos was this lovely set of wedding themed coasters.

In the box we received six glass coasters each measuring around 10cm square and around a centimetre thick. Each coaster is very similar in design with a scripted font statement which sets each one apart, We received "Cutting the cake", "The Bridesmaids", "The best man", "Mr and Mrs", "First Kiss", and "First Dance". The statement is set in a bold rectangle along the coaster, each one being placed in a different section of the coaster.
There is a 6cm square section for the photo to be placed and this can be slotted in the back where there is an area covered by a thin layer of plastic for you to be able to place your picture and easily remove it when needed.

To store the coasters we received a black wooden casing that the coasters sit in well and are accessible by lifting out and placing in to fit perfectly. These can be stored as a set on the table etc if you don't want them placed out all in one go. We tend to have ours in the centre of the table and remove them as we need to place glasses etc on the table.

Initially we found the quality of the coasters to be very good. Over time we have noticed slight chipping but only after a couple of heavy handed sessions with placing glasses down onto the coasters, and also when suction is created between the glass and the coaster sticking and then falling a few centimetres back to the table when the glass is picked up. If we were a little more careful I think they would still look almost brand new.
The casing for the coasters is starting to look ever so slightly chipped, but still intact well. Again I think with more care and less use by children we would have the case in better condition.

As the coasters are glass, we find they wash very well with just a wipe over with water. You wouldn't want to wash them up despite thinking they would be ok even with the photos removed as I would worry about the pictures becoming stuck with moisture when placed back inside. The case we also wipe over with a damp cloth and this seems to remove and spots of dirt and grime that accumulate from the coasters.

As these were a gift to us, the photos were already chosen and included in the coasters, but we thought this was a great idea for a gift and one we will consider in the future for friends. After some research I have found you can buy the set for around the £10 mark which I think is excellent value for money for a memorable gift that won't be forgotten by the recipient.
