A pretty and practical item for your wedding day

When we were planning our recent wedding we were looking for something pretty that guests could place their cards into. I had been to my friends wedding and she had a wishing well, I wanted something along these lines but a bit different. After a lot of hunting around and finding a lot of them you had to assemble yourself I came across Milestone Designs who had exactly what I was looking for.

Milestone designs do lots of wedding things including a very pretty range of card chests. They measure 15" x 9! x 10" and what's more important, well for me personally, is they are delivered ready made.

Basically the chest is made in the shape of a treasure chest with a curved lid. The card opening is on the lid and measures 8" x 1", so is plenty big enough to take all your cards.

We chose an ivory coloured chest with a pink swirly pattern on the lid. It is made from pale pink handmade silk thread paper with white swirling hearts. There are lots of different colours and designs to choose from 58 in fact, so there's something for most colour schemes. Despite being made of card the chest is strong and has a satin look and feel to it.
The chest opens and closes with a little pearl shell button, there is a silver thread loop attached to a small padded satin heart. The silver loop goes round the button fastening the chest shut.

We had the option to personalise our chest and thought this was a lovely idea. There are 4 designs to choose from when personalising your wedding chest these include, wedding gown motif, rose motif, a butterfly motif and a bow. We chose the rose motif, its mounted on a sparkly silver panel on the front along with a small card which gives the names of the bride and groom and the date of your wedding. Once again there are lots of colour choices for the motifs so you can personalise it to your colour scheme.

The whole thing is done to a very high standard and the attention to detail is lovely. Inside every chest Milestone Designs put a single wooden rose with the their name on, this is designed to be laid beside the chest as what I assume would be a bit of free advertising for them. We didn't actually use this though. It also comes with a little card to stand beside it saying please place your cards here. We did actually use this although I suspect most people would gather what it is for.

The chest cost £24.99 plus £5.50 p&p and is delivered in 1 to 2 working days. Ours arrived the next day very well packaged so we were very pleased. I had my wedding chest on a table at the reception next to the guest book. It made a very pretty addition to my wedding and a proved to be a very practical item too. It saved the cards being piled up somewhere or 1 person, probably the best man, having to look after them all the while. As we didn't write a gift list a lot of our guests gave us vouchers as presents these were all posted in the wedding chest too.

Despite being an item that will only be used once I think it was well worth the money we spent on it. It came ready made unlike some of them and was finished to a high standard. If you are looking for something like this I would definitely recommend having a look at Milestone Designs.
