basic pillow protectors which are cheap and do the job

I love my pillows and like to 'dress' my bed in order to make it look more stylish. I also tend to read a good deal and like to be well supported around my neck and back area so have 4 pillows so I bought 2 packs of these Wilko Everyday Value protectors last year. Although it states these protectors are intended to prolong the life of pillows I actually bought them because I remember seeing a programme on TV a while back about bed bugs etc and thought they would just give me a little bit more protection although my pillows were new. They cost £1.10 per pack of 2 and each measures 74 x 48cm which I think is the size of standard protectors and they fit my pillows perfectly. Before using them I washed them first and they became a little softer and dried easily. I thought they might shrink in the hot wash but they didn't. They are polyprpylene which is not the smoothest of fabrics but as I have Egyptian cotton pillowcases on top this is in no way a problem for me. The protectors are very basic as you would expect from the price of them. There were a few strands of cotton that needed to be cut off and they are not quilted although I believe Wilko's do sell quilted ones too? There is not a lot more I can say really - they are sold as Everyday Value Pillow Protectors and that is what you get so I am awarding 5 stars for them.

Easy to care for and work!

The place I spend the most time is in my bed. Suffering with M.E and a thyroid issue I'm exhausted most of the time so I'm either sleeping or in bed with my kitten watching dvds on my television lol. Because of this comfort and hygiene is mega important to me and my bed is a sacred thing! I appreciate comfort and am always treating myself to new duvets or bed sets and the likes. I usually buy myself really good quality and rather expensive pillows and to keep them nice I always use pillow protectors. Up until recently I always bought packs of the quilted soft material type ones from Argos but I spotted these Wilkinson's own ones at only £1.10 a pair and decided to give them a go as my old ones had had it through being washed and tumble dried far to often. The Packaging: These come in a white and yellow plastic oblong bag and on the front of the bag there is a picture scribbled on with a couple of pillows on there and we are told that they are indeed Wilko Everyday Value Pillow Protectors, 2 Pack (74x48cm) and then on the back of the pack we are told that they are machine washable and non-allergenic, we are told that they are made from a material called Polypropylene and contact details for Wilkinsons are given. This is a very distinctive pack and it looks cheap and like a value product so this packaging is pretty hard to miss in Wilkinsons (these are also available from online at www.wilkinsonsplus.com). The Pillow Protectors: Well these are white and feel like paper and are reasonably thick though not padded or anything like that and very plain to look at . They are styled as an envelope and pretty big in in size and you simply shove your pillow in and there is a flap to one end of them you simply pull over. I have standard sized pillows that are pretty thick and they fit in very well indeed in one of these and I could get even fatter pillows in than mine so they really are a great size no matter the thickness of a pillow really. A I have mentioned these are washable at up to 40c and you are not meant to bleach them or iron them and you can tumble dry them on a low heat, which I do do and I do that often. Basically when these are on pillows I pop a pillow slip over them and they do not rustle or move about. They protect my pillows when I've been sweating and from a smelly head and the likes and even drool (yep I do all that lol) and they keep my pillows in pristine condition. They are easy to care for and wash up well and I've had these a while now and they are showing no signs of wear and tear even through I wash them with my other bedding a couple of times a week at least. They are a paper material so they don't add any extra comfort really but I can't feel them on my pillows and they do a decent job for me and so yep they get the thumbs up from me and in my opinion are very worth the price I paid for them!
