The 1001 'uses around the home' cleaning brand launched in the 1940's as the first all-purpose cleaning liquid in the UK. Many of you might have heard of the brand, who specialize in cleaning products specifically designed for carpets and upholstery, including pet stains, car furniture and most recently laminate and wood.
I bought this product initially because when I moved into my house, the laminate flooring in the bathroom had some tough stains in the ridges of the pattern. Obviously my first action was to use bleach, thinking this would be the toughest thing for it, but it didn't work, not without some tough scrubbing, which, to be fair, I don't mind scrubbing it clean, but it was going take me absolutely ages to scrub off and I am sensitive to bleach as it goes straight to my head if I am around it for much longer than a quick mop or clean, I end up being sick. So, as this was never going to work, I left it and thought I'd have a look for a product whilst out shopping.
A few days later, in B&Q for some decorating accessories I came across their cleaning products. I had a look for some kind of tough cleaner I'd be able to use on the bathroom floor. There were plenty of B&Q's own brand industrial cleaners, and a few different branded floor cleaners, but I decided to settle on the 1001 Laminate and Wood Cleaner. I recognized the brand and knew they were tough on stains, as this is what they've always advertised. I'd never used any of their products before, but it only cost £1.50, so I thought I could at least try it, and it wouldn't be a great waste of money if it didn't work.
The bottle is a traditional cleaning spray bottle with an on/off nozzle. The bottle instructs you to sweep or vacuum the floor before using, then to lightly cover the dirty area with the spray without over wetting it. Then, it instructs you to wipe clean with a damp mop by working from one end of the room to the other, wiping in the direction of your laminate, wood or tile pattern. As I said before, this was very tough dirt, built up due to the previous owners, obviously not cleaning their floor very often, so I didn't expect it to just wipe off.
At first, I just followed the instructions to clean my floor before trying to scrub these areas. The spray is a milky yellow colour in the bottle, and on spraying just looks clear like any typical spray cleaner. The spray states to have a citrus sparkle, and upon spraying, you can smell the citrus scent, which isn't too overpowering and really just has a fresh clean smell. You only need one or 2 sprays for it to be visible on the floor, so after a few sprays around my bathroom, I began to mop. Upon wiping with the mop, I could see the spray turn white on the floor, looking a bit soapy. By the time I got to the other end of my bathroom, however, it was already starting to dry, leaving no residue. My floor did look clean straightaway, and after around a minute the whole bathroom floor was dry. After it had dried, I sprayed again and scrubbed with a cleaning sponge on the tough dirt, and it did come away a lot easier than it had done with the bleach.
I was pleased with the product after using it for mopping, as it really did do what the bottle states. It says it leaves no residue, no need to rinse, quick drying, leaves floors clean and smells fresh, which it really does.
The bottle also states, as it's a wood cleaner, that you can also use on kitchen units, doors, windowsills and skirting boards. I have tried it on these and it works just as well. I own a dog, who is always opening the dining room door and brushing past, so after a couple of months, and when she's in need of a bath, there's always a dirt stain which builds up on the white door and surround where she brushes past. In the past I scrubbed with warm soapy water or just with a kitchen cleaner, and really did need to scrub, but having used 1001, all I need to do is wipe and it comes off really easily. It has also been great to use on my kitchen cupboards, especially near the cooker where grease catches, again just a quick spray and wipe with a damp cloth and it cleans with no problems.
All in all, I would recommend this product, as it is great for use on wood and laminate. My floor always looks and smells clean after using it. At £1.50, I can't complain, as the product does do exactly as it says on the bottle!
1001 Laminate & Wood Cleaner is something we have been using for a little while now. It was bought for £1 at Home Bargains a few months ago and was mainly bought for the kitchen cupboards rather than our floors.
The bottle is plain and simple in white plastic and has an easy to use trigger type pump spray. It delivers a good squirt every time the trigger is pulled rather than a fine mist like you get with similar bottles.
The idea is that you spray it liberally over the area to be cleaned and then just wipe off with a clean damp cloth. The nozzle hasn't jammed and the bottle is easy to hold even with wet hands.
The instructions are very simple to follow and it is meant to both clean and protect wood and laminate floors.
We have used it twice on the laminate floor in the dining room but have used it many times to clean both inside and outside of the sealed kitchen cupboards. On every occasion we have used it it has given us reliable results and the wood has come up looking nice and clean with no sticky residue or nasty smears. In my opinion this is pretty impressive stuff.
The smell of the liquid is great too. Its a fresh and natural smell and not chemical-based as some other kitchen and floor cleaners can be, so that was a pleasat surprise for me personally.
Once this has gone we will be buying more because it is very effective and nice and cheap, great product.

I am possibly a bit OCD when it comes to cleaning. I like everything to be a certain way and will often tire myself out cleaning the house from top to bottom when I could quite possibly get away with just doing the basics as it is just my son and I at home. I do like to look for things which will make my life a bit easier when I am cleaning and when I was wandering around my local discount store I spotted a 1001 laminate and wood cleaner in a spray form which looked ideal for me.
The reason that the product stood out on the shelf amongst all the other items was because it comes in a bright yellow plastic container with a blue spray nozzle which really contrasts against the yellow. The bottle features a simple sticker on the front with the product name but what grabbed my attention was that it also says you can simply spray the product and then mop clean which seemed great for my as I don't even own a mop bucket!
Full instructions on how to use the product are provided on the back of the bottle but to be honest it is quite self explanatory anyway. I always make sure that before mopping I have vacuumed the floor because I have a dog that is dropping fur for England at the moment and I don't want to wet and spread her fluff all over the floor. Once I have done this I turn the nozzle in to the on position and just lightly cover the surface I am going to mop with the product. Sometimes I cover the whole floor at once whilst other times I take it in sections but I don't think it really matters which way you do it. The spray fits nicely in the hand and isn't overly big and so it makes it easy to carry and use as you go along. When the floor is covered with the spray I use my mop which is slightly damp just to mop the floor as I would do ordinarily.
What I like about this product is that as I wipe yes there is a slight white mark left where you are mopping but this actually disappears very quickly indeed and you are left with no residue on the floor, or certainly none that is visible to my eye anyway. The floor is left looking quite shiny too and because the product has a quite citrus smell to it I feel it makes the house just smell clean as well if that makes sense.
You can also use this product to clean doors and skirting boards should you wish to using a damp cloth afterwards but this is not something that I have used it for personally. I would advise that you test it on a small area first just to make sure that it doesn't damage your paint work in any way or whatever.
I really like this product because it helps make my life a bit easier. I can't say that mopping the floor is my favourite job to do around the house but this just helps me do it in a quick and efficient way without leaving my floor soaking wet. One thing I would say is that after you have used this product the floor can be quite slippery, especially if you are just wearing socks and so obviously care needs to be taken until the floor is properly dry.
I bought this 1001 laminate and wood cleaner from my local discount store for just one pound for a 350ml bottle which is lasting me well and so I have to say it is excellent value and would fully recommend that you try it.
Thank you for reading my review!
After trying a fantastic 1001 product for my carpets a few months back I have been trying out more products which take my fancy, and so far have been quite impressed.
One of the products I have been using is 1001's Laminate and Wood cleaner.
This particular product can be bought in a 500ml trigger spray bottle, see through in fact so you can see the faint yellow liquid inside. The trigger spray itself is bright blue and yellow matching the 1001 'logo' on it's products. The front of the bottle clearly tells you this is Laminate and Wood cleaner and that you simply spray and mop clean. It is a floor cleaner for sealed wood that cleans and protects and leaves no residue. We are also told on the front of the bottle it is 'citrus sparkle' so you can know what to expect roughly from the scent.
To use this cleaner all you need to do is spray it lightly over the 'dirty' area and then wipe clean with a mop .. or even a cloth. No need for water or mop buckets making this product an easy and convenient product to use.
You can this cleaner on floors, kitchen units, doors, window sills and skirting boards, so despite it being a laminate and wood cleaner it is actually a more versatile product than what it sounds and first seems.
The cleaner smells lovely, it has a hint of citrus and lemon to it, fruity and fresh but not strong or overpowering. It's a very pleasant scent indeed and doesn't overwhelm your senses. It sprays on as a light, watery liquid, showing it's yellow colouring depending on the colour of your surface and you quite literally just 'wipe' it off the surface with a cloth or a mop. It leaves no marks and you definitely don't have to use water to 'wash' it off it's surface either. I have to admit I have been impressed with this and tend to use it for my kitchen cupboards as they are wood and they are left with a clean, shiny finish, without me even having to wipe them dry. I'd definitely reccomend trying this, especially if you are not a fan of some of the more overpowering fragrances and chemically bleachy smells that some cleaner provide.
1001 Laminate and Wood Floor Cleaner.............
Yet again a trip to Poundland where lots of useful things bought at the bargain price of £1. This laminate and wood floor cleaner was not something I had seen there before but they seem to chop and change their stock so much they may well have had it in stock before but I could not have noticed it.
Anyhow it is not something I would usually buy from anywhere as I had not seen the product before buying it and although I usually mop my floor weekly I thought this may be a far quicker and easier method.
The bottle of this floor cleaner looks rather similar to the other 1001 carpet cleaning products with a spry action pump head which is blue in colour and an easy to hold shape bottle. The bottle is translucent and inside you can see a yellow watery liquid.
The bottle gives you the exact idea of what the product is used for and really the name says it all. However the bottle does state that you "simply spray and mop clean" and that it "cleans and protects and leaves no residue".
I decided to give it a go and found it very easy to use and that it worked a treat. Instead of getting my mop out I thought I would use a wet rag on my foot and this seemed to do the job just as well and far easier to get into those awkward corners.
The spray worked well and covered a good area. The smell was very nice and citrus like and filled the house with a clean smelling aroma. After spraying I run my damp cloth over the area and it leaves the floor clean and with a slight nice sheen to it. There is no smears or indeed as the bottle states no residue left from the cleaner. All in all the floor looks far better than when I just use my bog standard floor cleaner and smells nicer too.
The bottle also states that you can use it for your kitchen cupboards or really anything where there is sealed wood. This seems like a good idea as the smell is so nice and the product cleans so well.
Overall I rate this product highly I did the whole of my flat and didn't use that much so I would say a little does go a long way and for £1 I think it was a real bargain. I thought it easy to use and because it is in a handy spray bottle I can get it out any time and give the floor a quick once over with out too much bother. I do like it and I think it deserves a 4 out of 5 star rating. The only minus mark being because it really is just another bottle in the cupboard and I am sure the same job could pretty much be done with the new Flash All In One!
However I do recommend it and if you see it in the £1 give it a try!
Many thanks for taking the time to read
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
