Daisy Bathroom Cleaner
by katykicker
Bathroom cleaner is something that I absolutely love and as such I find it a very convenient product that I purchase around once ever 4-6 weeks. I have tried many different cleaners over the years and like most people I like to try something a little cheaper from time to time to try and save myself some money. I find the 'Daisy' range ... from Tesco to be a bit hit and miss, like a lot of budget supermarket ranges, but I'm always willing to try something else to see if it is worth regularly purchasing. At just 46p for a 500ml trigger spray bottle this is a bargain in my eyes and something that I love using, here is why....!
This spray comes provided in a plastic bottle, that is recyclable, with a trigger spray. There is a handle to operate the trigger spray and there is a nozzle on the end of the spray dispenser that can be turned to open and close the spray. This is useful as it means I can close it and not worry about accidentally spraying it when picking it up out of my cupboard under the sink. This also means that if I am stupid enough to leave this out that my cat cannot somehow spray herself.
When it comes to using this spray it is very simple. I remove products and ornaments from my surfaces and then I just depress the trigger for a long spray of liquid to go everywhere. This gives off a generous amount of spray and this spray nicely around my bath or sink. There is a good amount of liquid that comes out and there is quite a good mist from this too meaning lots of the product is distributed and I can set to work with my sponge scourer cleaning my surfaces. I tend to spray this on and then work around my bathroom spraying it on to surfaces before going back to the first place that I sprayed and then beginning my cleaning there. I find that a sponge scourer works very well for removing any stubborn dirt or stains and as I only leave this spray for a few seconds I am always really pleased with how well this spray works along with my sponge scourer at general cleaning.
This spray is fantastic....! It helps me clear any dirt and disgusting scummy water from around my sink and taps with ease. It cuts through residue left from bath bombs (where my husband fails to rinse the bath out!) with ease too and leaves my bathtub looking white, shiny and clean again all over. I also spray this on to my splash-back and leave it to soak in to the grouting for a few seconds before giving a scrub with a toothbrush and this has worked very well too. I have been using this cleaner on porcelain, tiles and lino surfaces as well as my laminate wood units (from Argos) and I've had no problems with discolouration although the usual information on the bottle applies about not applying to coloured enamel, wood, painted surfaces etc and I always recommend reading the bottle first with something as expensive as a bathroom suite.
I use this on most surfaces in my bathroom apart from the toilet and the mirror as this is not really suitable for either. I do use this to spray on a cloth before cleaning my toilet exterior and toilet seat but I like to use a specialist toilet cleaner for the toilet bowl itself to make sure that all germs are killed and that my toilet is clean and fresh when guests come over.
In terms of scent there isn't really one with this and its not something that freshens my bathroom after use, however, as I use air fresheners and products that really isn't a problem for me and it doesn't take away from how good this cleaner is at all. In all I am going to give this cleaner 5/5. It is absolutely fantastic for the jobs I use it for and I would definitely recommend it and not hesitate to purchase it again. Read the complete review |

Cillit Bang Power Grime & Lime Cleaner Trigger
by aefra
When the seriously \annoying Barry Scott (actor Neil Burgess) sprang merrily on to our tv screens back in 2004 brandishing a purple container, topped with an orange pump dispenser and fronted with a pretty pink, orange and white label with the words Cillitt Bang slashed across it, it had to be a spoof. I mean he actually finished a ... camp presentation which reminded me of my bright orange '60's kitchen with the words, "Bang, and the dirt is gone."
Since then the advert has been discussed on forums, remixed with a heavy beat on you tube, spawned questions on the ASK website and generally crushed we sniffy cynics into submission. I was still, for all that, determined not to use it. In fact a freeby presented by a friend had proved not to do what I wanted and been duly binned.
The fact that Cillit Bang had been used to clean off plutonium at the Dounreay Nuclear Power station did not impress. After all, that power station is now defunct so Cillit Bang perhaps removed more than the plutonium. They wouldn't tell me when I asked.
All came to a head in January of this year in Stoke when a Mr Richard Jablonski's home was surrounded by police after reports that he was wielding a gun. When they stormed the building he was found to be holding a bottle of Cillit Bang. A gun was found but he was released from court as police could not say that he was holding it during the raid.*
It was a couple of weeks ago that I bought my first bottle of Cillit Bang Lime and Grime. I don't really know why. I already had the necessary cleaners in my bathroom and kitchen and it sat on Asda's shelf sort of calling to me. My bathroom is always hygienically clean, but is old and tired looking. Whenever I have the funds to replace it I need the car replaced, something expensive for my dogs or a non essential but happy purchase of an artificial lawn. Always at the expense of a trip to the Bath Store and a call to my favourite handyman.
So it was that on the day of my purchase, I squeezed Cillitt Bang's trigger and aimed the nozzle into my bathroom wash hand basin. The contents flowed out in a sort of white, thin foamy stream. I wiped it round the basin with a cloth and was delighted. As for the taps........they shone as they haven't since new. I took off and sprayed around the shower doors, tiles, chrome toilet roll holder and pretty much everything in sight. It works! It more than works! Next the lime scale bit. What about my shower head, which normally needs a soak in vinegar and lots of pricking with a pin to release the results of the Essex hard water?
I unscrewed the head and sprayed the Cillitt Bang into the holes, leaving it upright in the sink for a short while. The result was a joy. A full spray of uninterrupted needles of hot water for my next shower. The lime scale around the bottom of my taps has disappeared without trace and stayed that way until the next CB treatment. Advertisements suggest waiting times for the magic cleaner to be effective, but I don't have a problem. While trying to describe the flow of liquid, I took time off from my review to spray into the kitchen sink. Since my new cleaner tells me it deals with rust, I sprayed it at the same time on to the rusty hinge of a cupboard beneath my sink. The steel plug holes shone immediately and a few moments later I wiped the rust off the hinge. My cupboards have been treated to the magic spray and I am happy to grovel to Barry and say sorry.
An added bonus is the pleasant scent. It is a clean smell without that strong bleachy eye- watering tang found with some very good cleaners. There are surfaces which the pack advises us not to use the product on and I would suggest that you to check on the rear label before spraying on other than the items I have tried.
I paid £1.50 in Asda, which I think is a good buy as it will last me.
Does the Lime and Grime clean coins as shown by Barry Scott. Blimey! Not 'arf!

Mr Muscle Bathroom & Toilet Cleaner
by Elaineee
Contains <5% Non-Ionic Surfactants , also contains Disinfectant, Perfume, Limonene
Mr Muscle bathroom and toilet cleaner is a 5 in 1 anti bacterial concentrated cleaner. It comes in an attractive orange spray bottle with Mr Muscle in large letters and a picture of 'Mr Muscle' on the front. The turning on/off nozzle is easy ... to use, very easy to spray and gives a generous squirt without much effort. The label tells you everything you need to know about the product ingredients, warnings and directions for use- spray on wait 5 mins wipe off. I've never waited 5 mins though I just put it on and scrub it off.
With a mechanic, a factory worker (that sounds wrong but he's my eldest!!) and teenage boys living here the bathroom gets hammered!! this product really has it's work cut out for it.
I find it works very well without having to use too much, gets rid if soap scum, really cleans the dirty ring in our plastic bath (engine oil ring too) cleans the ceramic sink really quickly and well, this gets particularly filthy as my youngest is doing a lot of painting for Art in school. It leaves everything nice, clean and shiny without having to use a lot of elbow grease.
One of the main reasons for buying this particular cleaner for me is the fact it does the loo as well, again I just squirt in on and wipe it straight off, it does the job and leaves it clean and odour free.
Mr Muscle has a lovely clean citrus smell to it, it's not over bearing and doesn't last long but it takes away the usual bathroom/toilet smells.
I have to use it every day, I'm not sure when I opened my current bottle, but I think it's about 2-3 weeks ago and it's now nearly empty so that's quite good lasting. Obviously if I bought separate toilet and bathroom cleaner it would last longer but I like the fact that I don't have to switch bottles during my cleaning (only the cloth).
Usually £2 for 500ml it is on offer for £1 in Tesco at the moment- bargain. Read the complete review |
