Easy Washing Up Liquid
by xxBeccaxx
When I decided I was spending a lot on cleaning products I decided to give some cheaper brands a go and some have worked out for the better, others haven't been so satisfactory. My mum buys this washing up liquid believing she is saving money so I decided what harm could it do to give it a go.
They come in large bottles double ... packed for just £1 and have 2 scents on offer, original and lemon. he combined volume of the product is 900ml's which for £1 I though had to be good value but then I gave it a try. The bottle is easy enough to hold but it is heavy so you may have to use two hands to effectively hold it, the excess sides at the top help with holding this but it's not the best for holding in one hand until a lot of the bottle is used up. It has a pull up sort of sports top bottle for removing the product and it opens and closes easily.
I found that the liquid wasn't too thin, not as much as the likes of say value brands but it's no-where near as thick as Fairy so it flows easily out of the bottle. I found on first use that the scent was nice enough but not very lemony neither was it as strong as Fairy and made washing up a more pleasant experience. The bubbles disappeared almost instantly and with more use I found you needed quite a substantial amount of this to make bubbles that would last any amount of time which makes it too soapy for my liking and leaves the dishes streaky with the amount of soap required. It wasn't harsh on my skin but I didn't find it to be softening or anything like Fairy which I found was another disadvantage of this product.
I also found that for regular dishes it wasn't too bad but it was a nightmare on pots and oven dishes, it just wasn't effective enough to remove the grease or the general muck from these items so I wasn't very impressed at all. I did find that it was ok for making a bubble solution for my little boy, it needed a lot of product but with 900ml there was more than enough to fill up his bubble wand over and over again.
I wouldn't recommend this for washing dishes with unless Fairy was not on offer but this isn't a problem for me as I stock up when there is an offer on but I would buy to make up bubbles for my son, much cheaper than using expensive premade bubble solutions! Read the complete review |

Easy Washing Up Liquid

When I am shopping for washing up liquid, I usually look for Easy Washing Up Liquid as it is normally picked up quite cheap and washes dishes well, so I figure why pay more for other brands?
Easy Washing Up Liquid with Aloe Vera makes quite a few bubbles, I find that when I am washing the dishes. I usually fill the sink to ... wash the dishes from dinner time with hot water and this washing up liquid and then rinse off the dishes with hot water. I find that I do not need lots of washing up liquid in order to get the dishes cleaned up properly, which is great as usually when you are using cheaper washing up liquids, you need to use loads in order to get your dishes clean.
I really like the smell of this washing up liquid, it has a very clean and fresh smell to it and it also contains aloe vera, so it isn't as harsh on your hands than other washing up liquids. I find that when I use Fairy Liquid or other more expensive washing up liquids, I get an allergic reaction to them and my hands come out in a horrible rash, but when I use Easy Washing Up Liquid with Aloe Vera I never have any problems with rashes.
You can buy Easy Washing Up Liquid with Aloe Vera in most supermarkets for in around 55p for a 625ml bottle, I think that this is a great price, and in our house this would last for around a week or just over it, this is great value in my opinion.
Overall I think that this is a great washing up liquid and is much cheaper than other washing up liquids on the market. It doesn't take too much to get my dishes clean and it smells lovely. Overall I would give this washing up liquid 5 out of 5 stars.

Easy Washing Up Liquid

I often buy supermarket own brands or value brands when attempting to save a few pennies and, if they're any good, will usually revert to them instead of the named brands when shopping. Saying that I love Fairy Washing Up Liquid makes me sound rather sad and pathetic, but having tried several other makes over the years I always always ... find myself coming back to Fairy. Their adverts really are true, it does last longer and work better at its job than any other I've tried, so this is one of the named brands that I am loyal to.
A few weeks ago I popped out for a few things we'd run out of and as the nearest big supermarket to us is 12 miles away, ended up in a little corner shop. With washing up liquid on my list I was disappointed to find that the only one they had on their shelf was this Easy Alaoe Vera option. I'd never even heard of it before, let alone used it, but with no other option I picked a bottle up. From memory I think it was about 89p for the 625 ml bottle (with 25% extra free!) so didn't exactly break the bank.
The bottle is a standard one that you would usually find washing up liquid in, a clear squeezy affair with a red nozzle on the top which you have to pull up in order to dispense the liquid. The liquid itself was a pale, creamy green colour, much like you'd expect for a product claiming aloe vera as an ingredient (although further investigation on the back of the bottle leaves me none the wiser as to the validity or even the basis of this claim. All it says is alo vera. Does this mean they've used it as an ingredient? Are they claiming it as a fragrance? Who knows! It isn't listed on the ingredients list, so I'm a bit confuddled to be honest.
The first time I used it I squeezed the same amount as I would Fairy liquid under a hot running tap and waited for the bubbly foam to appear...and waited...and waited. Eventually I gave in and squirted some more in but still no bubbles appeared. It took 3 generous squeezes (so 3 times as much as I would normally use) to generate any kind of foam whatsoever and so my hopes sank even further! The liquid isn't as thick as others that I've used and can only really be described as runny. To give it it's due, it does smell quite pleasant, fresh and "green", much as you'd expect from an aloe vera product.
But how did it perform when washing your dishes I hear you cry! Well, not very well to be frank! In all honesty I rarely wash up as the rule in our house is whoever cooks does not do the dishes as well. But it so happened that hubby was cooking the first night we had this (his ever-reliable jacket potato!) so it was me that ended up using it first. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. After I'd managed to seduce a few foamy bits from the water I got stuck into the dishes. It started well enough on the glasses and cutlery but when it came to the plates I scrubbed and scrubbed and still ended up having to leave them to soak while I wiped the counters down. Even after another good scrubbing I still wasn't happy that they were as clean as they should be. Granted, these plates had had a chilli con carne smothered jacket potato on, but it's not like we'd left them overnight to go all hard or anything, I was washing up about half an hour after we finished eating.
We've persevered with Easy, mainly to avoid waste, but after only 3 weeks the bottle is near empty, where an equivalent sized bottle of Fairy would last us around 2 months (no, we're not dirty muppets! there's only two of us so we tend to leave breakfast dishes to do with the dinner dishes and so usually only wash up once a day, twice if I'm baking or it's a weekend!). When my husband uses it he feels the need to squirt so much into the washing up bowl that the base of it is nearly covered and if I've used a frying pan he does the same with that so it hasn't lasted very long at all.
I'm trying hard to think of something positive to say about Easy, but I'm struggling! I can't even say it leaves my hands feeling soft as it actually leaves them feeling slightly tacky and sticky :(
So, would I buy Easy again? Can you guess the answer?! It's a resounding no from me. It is definitely a false economy as far as I'm concerned. It might cost less than Fairy but if you need to use three times as much it ends up costing the same per wash and it doesn't do anywhere near as good a job as the big brand unfortunately. So next time I feel the need for a bargain when it comes to washing up liquid I'll just be waiting for Fairy to be on offer rather than buy an alternative. The husband moans enough about doing the washing up when using a good washing up liquid, so it's just not worth the ear-ache to economise in this department! Read the complete review |
