Jeyes Bloo Acticlean
by angelboouk
~Bloo Acticlean~
Bloo Acticlean is a range of cistern blocks for your toilet. They are available in different colours/scents but I will be discussing the 'Fresh Pink' blocks.
These cistern blocks should be placed in your cistern at the opposite end from the water inlet and left to settle for 10 minutes. Once the ... toilet is flushed, the cleaning agents will leave your toilet sparkling and prevent a build up of limescale from forming. A foamy substance should be evident on the surface of the water and there is a promise of pink, floral scented water.
The blocks are presented in a pink, cardboard backed pack and should be stored away from children and in a cool, dry place. Depending on where you buy the blocks from, they may either be round or flower shaped. Each block is said to offer 4 weeks of freshness.
~Price and Availability~
A 2pk of 38g cistern blocks can be purchased from supermarkets and stores including B&Ms and Wilkinsons. Asda offer the flower shaped blocks priced at £1.50 whilst Wilkinsons offer the round shaped blocks at £1.78.
~My Thoughts~
Whilst I can be a little bit untidy, I am very 'obsessed' with keeping my bathroom clean. My worse nightmare is for someone to drop by and for my toilet to be unclean. I would be mortified! Anyway, as well as investing in a good quality bleach/toilet cleaner, I also buy cistern blocks. I favour the Bloo brand so this was my first choice of cistern block. I bought my 2pk of pink cistern blocks from my local B&Ms store for 89p which I consider a brilliant price.
The instructions for using these cistern blocks are very simple to follow. They can cause irritation to skin so I normally pull open the pack and tip a block into the cistern before giving my hands a wash (just in case!). The blocks come in pink pleated wrappers which do not need to be taken off as they dissolve in the water. The solid block offers a light bleach smell.
Once the block has settled for 10 minutes, the toilet is fine to use and flush. These blocks are perfect for keeping my toilet fresh. I do not rely on them to give my toilet are thorough clean and always use in conjunction with my toilet cleaner and brush regularly. Between flushes though they do the job nicely. When the toilet is flushed, an intense pink burst of water is sent whoosing around my toilet bowl. It settles at the bottom in a thick layer of foam which hids the bottom of my toilet bowl nicely and looks much nicer than plain water. The foam lasts well but does disappear eventually leaving pink tinted water. My boys aren't happy with this but if I clean the toilet, I get to choose the colour!
My toilet does look clean and slightly sparkly with each flush. The blocks do not have the power to remove any toilet marks but do limit the amount of limescale well. I wouldn't say that the scent is very strong when flushed. A very subtle floral tone is mixed with a clean but not overpowering bleach scent. As with everything, the effects of a cistern block start to fade. For the first week or so, the colour was intense but this gradually faded. I have been using my current cistern block for around 3 weeks and there is very little foam offered and the pink colouring is very pale. I do feel that the block is still keeping my toilet fresh between cleans but not to the same extent as when new. This isn't a major issue but it is worth noting that you don't really get four weeks of 'super foaming'.
~Conclusion~
89p is a small price to pay to keep my toilet looking fresh between cleans. I like the pink coloured blocks but would like to try the other colours to see if they were a little stronger in scent.

Jeyes Bloo Fruity Burst Toilet Cleaner
by kiss_me2070
The Product
= = = = = =
The product I am reviewing is a toilet cleaner by Bloo which is part of the Jeyes Group. The toilet cleaner is limited edition as they seem to bring out different toilet cleaners each season. I am reviewing the Fruity Burst one, but you can also purchase Flower Festival as well which is blue in colour. ... The toilet cleaner comes in a plastic bottle which is smooth to touch. The bottle is clear and you can see the bright coloured liquid in the bottle which is a bright pink colour. On the front of the bottle it states what the product is and that it kills 99.9% of germs and also helps to remove lime scale. On the back of the bottle you will find some information about the product such as how to use it and a list of ingredients. I have used some Bloo products before, mainly the blocks that go in the cistern to colour the water and leave the toilet fresh and clean. I was in my local Poundland store purchasing some bits for work and one of the things I needed was toilet cleaner so I thought I would give this a go to see what it was like, and it was also a good opportunity to write a new review too! As I purchased this from my local PoundLand store, yes . . You guessed it, it cost me just £1.00 for a 750ml bottle which I thought was pretty good.
Using the Product
= = = = = = = = =
The bottle has a safety cap on it and the side need to be squeezed in and the lid needs to be twisted before you can actually get the lid off. This is easy for an adult to do, but not for children which is good. I put the nozzle under the rim of the toilet bowl and squeezed the bottle a little as I moved it round the rim. As I did this I could see how much of the cleaner I was applying as it was bright pink and showed up on the toilet bowl. I actually thought this toilet cleaner was really quite runny, compared to others I have used before; perhaps it was me just being silly though. I could smell the fruity smell of the cleaner, this was ok but smelt a little too fake to me. I decided to leave the cleaner for a good 30mins to work and then I would come back to flush it and see the results. I went back to toilet after approximately 30 minutes and I could really smell the fruity smell of the product, I wasn't really sure whether I liked this or not and I think I preferred more of a bleach smell to this as bleach smells cleaner. Most of the pink liquid had run down the inside of the bowl now and a section of liquid had gathered on the bottom of the bowl in the water. I flushed the toilet and immediately it foamed up. As the toilet flushed it washed away the bright pink liquid and left white foam sitting on top of the water in the bowl. The bowl itself did look cleaner and a lot shinier than it had done before so I was very pleased as this clearly cleans the toilet very well. I can't actually comment on the lime scale side of things as the toilet didn't have any lime scale anyway. Since using the toilet cleaner I certainly haven't noticed any lime scale either so this must be doing a good job of keeping it at bay.
Overall Opinion
= = = = = = = =
Although I'm not really a pink person I think the brightness of the liquid is what attracted me to buying this product in the first place. It is a brand I am aware of and have used before so I did expect the cleaner to be reasonably good and work quite well. In terms of cleaning the toilet bowl I think it did a brilliant job and it left the bowl looking clean and shiny. The toilet cleaner definitely leaves your toilet with a fruity smell, but like me some other people may not really like this smell. As the liquid is coloured you can see where you have applied the product so you can be sure that you don't miss any parts when applying it under the rim of the bowl. I use the cleaner a few times a week and I also apply it on Friday before leaving work and leave it to work all weekend ready to flush the toilet when I come into work on the Monday. In terms of value I can't really complain as I only paid £1.00 for the product. This will probably cost you more if you purchase it from a supermarket such as Sainsbury's or Tesco. I'm not sure I would purchase this product again as I'm not too keen on the smell and I think other products out there can probably do a better job than this one.

Jeyes Bloo Fruity Burst Toilet Cleaner
by cazkins
I don't tend to stick to a toilet cleaner brand as there are a few I choose from depending on the price. However, having tried this one, I actually really like it so it's one I'll look out for in future.
Bloo, a Jeyes product, is a popular brand that I consider to be effective and trustworthy. They have a range of cleaners ... depending on personal preference, but I opted for the Limited Edition one when I saw it in store. I like these as opposed to clip on cleaners sometimes just because I choose when and how much to use, so I find it better value for money and more effective because you target exactly what you want to. This comes in a curvy, clear, thick/sturdy plastic bottle and looks strangely attractive for a toilet cleaner because of the vibrant pink colour of the liquid.
This is described as a 'super fragrance toilet cleaner' in 'Fruity Burst', designed for a 'Bloo kind of freshness'. I liked the sound of something scented but I also wanted it to be effective, which is sounds to be as it claims it also 'kills 99% of germs, removes limescale'. Many cleaners claim to get rid of germs and yucky limescale, but I think this is set apart from others because of its focus on being so scented, and it did stand out on the shelf for me because of its colour
The bottle top is fairly easy to remove by squeezing in the pads on the side to allow the cap to be twisted off. You use this as you would any toilet cleaner : Point the nozzle under the rim of the toilet and squeeze the bottle. You'll see the pink liquid and know exactly which areas you've covered, so you can then flush when ready. If you need more hardcore cleaning, for instance if there's a build-up of limescale, you can leave it overnight.
I've found this to indeed have a 'fruity burst' of scent that's sweet and uplifting but not too overpowering. It actually goes well in a bathroom to make it seem both clean and fresh, so I really like this aspect. It also seems to do a good job at cleaning and washes away well, so it's effective and easy to use at the same time. I bought this in 750ml and don't use a great deal each time, just enough to line the toilet and keep germs/limescale at bay; it seems to last me a reasonable while so I'd say it's fairly good value for money in this respect. Leaving it overnight also does work well for any build-up, so it's not just an airy fairy scented product, it works effectively even when the job is tougher.
Overall, I would recommend this if you want something effective yet pleasant and uplifting for your bathroom cleaning routine.
750ml sells for around £1.60 (also available in Bright Violet) Read the complete review |
