Stardrops All-Round Cleaner
by sarahhhx My ex partners dad is a tradesman and recommended 'Stardrops' to me as he uses it a lot on his jobs when he 'cleans up' after fitting kitchens and bathrooms. He has used allsorts of products in the past due to his job but one of his favorites will always be 'Stardrops' because of this I had to buy a bottle and try it ... out. About stardrops It is a multi purpose-cleaning product. When you read the bottle you will be very surprised at the many uses for this product. These purposes include: Makes everything sparkle around your home. Ideal & safe to use on... Baths, Carpets, Melamine, Hand Laundry, Cars, China, Floors, Windows & Doors, Hobs, Sinks, Mirrors, Tiles, Paintwork, Upholstery, Washing up, UPVC, Glassware, Worktops. Not many cleaning products are on the market that you can use for hand laundry and cleaning around the home. It is definitely the most versatile cleaning product I have used. I tend to just use this product for cleaning the kitchen, sink, hob and bath. I haven't used it for laundry or my car however; I would happily try it out on my car but maybe not on laundry, as I do like them to smell like proper laundry products, nice and fresh. Packaging I bought this product in a 1-litre bottle. My first impressions were not extremely high. I mean to me it looked very plain and didn't stand out much from the other cleaning products on the shelf at the supermarket. It comes in a plastic bottle with a screw lid The bottle is clear so you can see the colour of the cleaner, which is like an orange kind of colour. The product is usually used diluted however can be used concentrated. I tend to mix it with water. It does have recommendations at the back on how much water to mix it with. The smell isn't too strong; it is fairly fresh which I didn't expect because of the colour and packaging of the product. It almost looks like a product used by tradesmen. Sensitivity I was surprised at how little my hands dried up after using the product. I do tend to wear gloves when cleaning, however when I'm just cleaning the kitchen hob and worktops I tend to go without unless I'm giving it a thorough clean. My skin didn't dry out as much as normal when using the product. My hands get dry very quickly so this was a huge surprise for me. Cleaning capabilities I was very happy with the results of this product, much happier than any of the other cleaning products I use in my kitchen cupboard. The product cleans my hob really well even when food gets hard and sticks to it, which can usually be a nightmare to take off and very time consuming. The product was great for getting stains off my carpet and I highly recommend solely for this reason as it removed stains out of my carpet with not much elbow grease at all. The cleaning capabilities are definitely high and I can see why tradesmen like my ex partner's dad tend to opt for this product. Star drops is great for cleaning glass, I have always found cleaning mirrors a bit of a chore because they can easily streak when you use the wrong products. However, when I used Star drops my mirrors were really squeaky clean. It is also great at giving a high shine on my sink, which once used it looks brand new again. I cannot recommend it enough. Price The product is £1.39 for 1 litre at ASDA. However, you can find this product at other stores such as Home bargains, which may be even cheaper. I cannot remember how much it was there and couldn't find the price online but to be quite honest if it isn't cheaper there it is still very reasonably priced at £1.39 for a litre bottle which is usually used diluted so lasts a very long time. It is one of them products you don't have to buy often. Conclusion I highly recommend the Star drops multi purpose cleaner. It seems to clean everything so well, which is very rare with multi purpose cleaners- they tend to be too good to be true. It saves a lot of bottles been stored in your cupboard as you don't need a product for everything you can just get Star drops that covers nearly all the aspects of cleaning around the home and even the car. A little goes a long way thanks to it been a product you can use diluted. So it is fantastic value for money. Not a lot of elbow grease is needed, it is a very effortless product, which is fantastic and saves a lot of time cleaning and a lot more time putting your feet up and watching the television! The product is a great price and definitely is a product I will keep on buying. I love its cleaning capabilities and nothing cleans my mirrors, worktops and bath as well as Star drops! Highly recommended! Read the complete review |

Stardrops All-Round Cleaner
by Larrabee Before you read the rest of this review let me assure that I do not in fact work for the manufacturers of Stardrops, or any company that sells it. Yes, I really do just love it this much! I was introduced to Stardrops about a year ago and I have never been without a bottle since. It takes pride of place among my cleaning ... products and is my favourite by a very very wide margin. Basically, Stardrops is a wonder product, you can use it for pretty much everything and in most cases it will do the job better than any purpose made specific product out there. I use Stardrops to clean my laminate floors, my carpet, my bathroom, my kitchen, my leather sofas, pretty much everything really. It describes itself as an all purpose cleaner and it most certainly does what it says on the tin. A few (star)drops in the mop bucket leaves laminate floors looking brand new, and on a Sunday I can often be found with a bucket of Stardrops giving my leather sofas a good clean with it. I have two dogs and they tend to make everything slightly mucky and Stardrops really refreshes things and helps me to keep on top of the dogs' trail of destruction. Especially in winter when it seems to be about twenty times worse! I've used Stardrops to clean up when one of the dogs had an 'accident' on a carpet and where a purpose made product specifically designed for cleaning up after dogs failed to do much good, a good scrub with Stardrops had the carpet looking as good as new. I also use Stardrops instead of buying washing up liquid now as I have a dishwasher so I don't need to do a lot of washing up but Stardrops is great for when you have something you need to soak or if you accidentally burn food onto a pan or dish. Stardrops isn't generally sold at the big supermarkets, I have no idea why, but you can get it at Wilkinsons and some pound shops. Its great value for money as a quick squirt goes a really long way. Its much better value for money than some of the trigger spray type products and I prefer to use it as you don't spray loads of chemicals into the air for the pets and any children to breathe in. I'm also a big believer in not using too much anti-bacterial stuff, so I prefer the 'soap and water' approach of using Stardrops for pretty much everything! It doesn't have a strong smell, it certainly doesn't have that 'cleaning product' scent to it that can linger after using other things. So if you don't already have it, go out and buy some now, happy Stardrops! Read the complete review |

Stardrops All-Round Cleaner
by ryeb Just before our kitchen was renovated, I had the "pleasure" of cleaning out every cupboard to leave the builders with a blank canvas. This lead me to realise just how many cleaning products I had accumulated in the cuboards under the sink. It took 5 cardboard boxes to pack it all up! I mentioned this to a friend, who told me ... she used to be the same - until she discovered Stardrops. I remembered vaguely hearing the name before and I thought it was some kind of disinfectant. 10 minutes later I knew better, as my friend had told me everything that the product can be used for. I decided to buy a bottle of the wonder liquid to try for myself, especially after she told me I could buy it in Poundworld! WHAT IS STARDROPS? It is a concentrated all round cleaning liquid, although this brief description doesn't really do it justice. The number of usage suggestions on the bottle is high and ranges from the expected - cleaning surfaces, floors, windows and paintwork - to the more unusual - handwashing laundry and washing dishes. I couldn't do the last two with any of my other cleaning products that's for sure. You can also use it as a carpet and upholstery cleaner, on tiles and melamine, on cars...the list is endless. I liked having a multi tasking liquid as it is space saving but I was also worried it coud be a jack of all trades and not very effective at any of the individual tasks. It has been made since the 70's at least, according to my mum. I thought therefore it must be good for at least some of it's task list so I decided to give it a trial. There is no mention of the cleaner having any specific antiseptic or disinfecting properties, although I think even plain soap and water gets rid of at least some germs. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I bought a 750ml bottle, and as it is mainly used diluted, I thought that this represented good value for money, always supposing it worked of course. It looks like a disinfectant because of it's amber brown appearance, and because of that, I expected the scent to be similar. Thankfully, it is much nicer than that - a fresh lemony smell, and one that I wouldn't mind hanging around in my home. It doesn't have a very strong aroma though, if just used for the odd bit of cleaning. It is only after I had used it for muliple tasks in one room that I noticed the scent really lingering despite the windows being open. As the scent was far nicer than any other cleaning liquid I have, that is fine by me. The bottle lists suggested strengths of dilution for certain tasks such as hand laundry, general cleaning and carpet cleaning, but for other tasks such as washing up it is more down to guesswork. I have found trial and error hasn't produced any disasters. The only mildly annoying thing is the directions suggest using a certain number of mls per litre of water. This meant I had to find a measuring beaker I could use with it - if the cap could have been marked for use as a measure this would have been helpful. WHAT I HAVE USED IT FOR I normally only handwash the odd delicate item unless I am camping. However, as my washing machine wasn't available due to the works in the kitchen, I decided to give Stardrops a try. The bottle said it was safe to use on any washable colourfast fabrics, even delicate wools. I decided to play it safe and just use it on some old t -shirts first. I followed the directions and used 30ml diluted in 4.5l of warm water. I then left the t-shirts to soak for a few hours before rinsing. The liquid smelt lemony and produced quite a few bubbles when I swished it around. I was really impressed with how clean the t-shirts were as I had got a lot of dirt and dust on them when I was moving a compost heap in the garden. They were spotless once rinsed, fresh smelling, and wearing them afterwards caused me no skin irritation. After that success, I used the Stardrops on a favourite but not-to-white-any-more bra, that I usually handwash, and yet again it cleaned far better than the other remedies I had tried. These ranged from lemon juice to Vanish sticks. It wasn't good-as-new white, but not far off. After that, I used it diluted on all my washing until the washing machine was re-connected and it never let me down. I loved the fact I didn't need to scrub away at the clothes either. You can use the product neat on tougher stains, but I have only tried this once - on a fresh tomato sauce stain and it did come right off. I haven't tried it on older marks, but I will update this review when one presents itself! Laundry aside, it works well as a surface cleaner. There are some circumstances when I want to use a disinfecting spray, for example cleaning around a toilet, but for everyday cleaning of worktops and paintwork, it works fine. I have always used it at the recommended dilution for this. It is so easy to be able to make up one quantity and then work your way around the house with an assortment of sponges and clothes, knowing one liquid will deal with every area you want to clean. It doesn't leave any residue or smearing behind, which also helps to make using it quick as there is no need to re-wipe everything over. I love how shiny it makes my bath taps which develop those white water marks in the blink of an eye. Stardrops leaves them clearer for longer than plain water cleaning does. Most of the marks I have wanted it to deal with are quite fresh, such as cooking splashes and dirty fingerprints on door frames, but it has also made a great job of cleaning an old plastic storage bunker that I use in the garden to keep flower pots in. This is outside in all weathers so it was very mucky and also had green weathering marks on it. The plastic is textured so it is hard to clean, but a stronger than average mix of Stardrops made it look presentable again. It also removed some old residue left behind when some stickers were peeled off the bunker, which I thought nothing would shift after scraping at it kept scratching the plastic. [I used the Stardrops neat for the last task.] As a washing up liquid, I think it is fine on items that aren't too dirty. I thought that it made hard work of dealing with a dish that had burnt on lasagne sauce round the rim. My normal washing up liquid would have dealt with it faster and with less soaking, so Stardrops won't be replacing that. I have yet to try Stardrops on my carpets, because I have other products to use up first. I have used it to mop a tiled floor though, and it removed the builders dust and dirty footprints excellently, with no marks or streaking left behind. WOULD I RECOMMED IT? Yes, it is great to find a multi tasking cleaning liquid that actually performs all of it's tasks well. The fact that it is concentrated, and you need to use so little at once, makes it amazing value for money. What really surprised me, is the fact that it actually cleans some parts of home, such as my taps and my tiles, better than a specialist product does, and with less fuss. I haven't needed to scrub away at any surface to make it work, except the burnt on cooking on my dishes. The fact that it smells nice is another blessing. I haven't suffered any irritation when using it, but I wear gloves for most tasks and I don't have sensitive skin. I am going to use up all my half started and never opened cleaning products, but I will be replacing most of them with Stardrops only. A disinfecting spray, and washing up liquid can stay, but everything else is going to have to work hard to earn its place. You can buy Stardrops in the 99p store, Poundworld and Poundland, as well as some larger supermarkets, Wilkinsons, Savers, and Poundstretchers. It is a shame that not all shops stock it, but I suppose it wouldn't be good for trade as you wouldn't need to replace it too often!
