Mr Muscle Window and Glass Cleaner
by milmol7
Most of my 'cleaning' cupboard is spray or wipe-based. To me, they are the least labour-intensive approaches to housework!
This Mr Muscle Window & Glass comes in a clear plastic bottle with a thin green liquid inside, and a white and orange trigger on top. The bottle is moulded at the neck to make notches for your fingers ... - it does make it very easy to hold and use the trigger with one hand. The nozzle is protected by rotating the end of the nozzle, it says "on" and "off" embossed into the plastic. It isn't very clear whether it's on or off, you do need to look quite carefully. If you squeeze the trigger while it's turned to off, the spray obviously doesn't come out, but when you realise that, and rotate to "on", the liquid you squoze previously seeps out and dribbles down your fingers. Not ideal. The "instructions" are printed on the back of the main label, which you read through the back of the bottle, through the liquid - illustrating how light and transparent the liquid is.
However, once you're up and running, this cleaner really does its job. I usually use kitchen towel with it, one squeeze of the spray and a wipe with the kitchen towel and the surfaces come up sparkling, no need for a polish/buff afterwards. It dries immediately and leaves no streaks or marks, it really is a case of spray on, wipe off, job done, and it smells lovely and fresh.
You don't need to use much - for example my dining table is about 1.2m circular and one good spray is enough to clean that.
For me though this is really a multi-purpose cleaner, not just glass. Any shiny surfaces it does a brilliant job - my kitchen worktops are gloss finish, and they look gleaming if I finish them off with this, and also my plastic window sills come up like new after a spray of this. I also use it on bedside tables which have a laminate finish, and my coffee table is a type of faux-leather which it also works great on. Obviously mirrors also come up beautifully, no streaks.
It contains vinegar which is apparently why it's so effective on glass, but the smell is nice and fresh (not vinegary!) - not that you should be inhaling, obviously!
It's not cheap, it's over £3 a bottle for 500ml, although I know the last one I bought was on offer and it lasts a long time, so I consider it good value for how good a product it is. Read the complete review |

Asda Window and Glass Cleaner
by juicy_lucy
WHERE CAN I USE IT?
Suitable for use on: bathroom; kitchens; windows; mirrors; glass; worktops; tiles; chrome and stainless steel; A handy product to have as it seems to be suitable for most surfaces.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
The cleaner comes in a clear plastic 500ml bottle with all of the information ... and directions on the back and a pump trigger spray. It looks green when viewed through the bottle but when sprayed it thankfully doesn't leave green smears on surfaces although it does still have a green tinge.
There is a cover on the front of the pump which has to be turned in order to open the spray bottle. By pressing on the pump handle, the spray is dispensed and although it comes out quickly, its not too much liquid on the surfaces, but rather a layer of evenly spread liquid which is easy to work with. I don't know what it smells of, but it's not unpleasant, but then again, it's not floral or a disinfectant smell.it is a smell however that I would associate with clean but that could be because I associate it with cleaning.
USING THE PRODUCT...
After turning the nozzle to open, spray the cleaner at the surface at a distance of about 25cm from the surface and then wipe off with a clean dry cloth.it is suggested that when using for the first time the surface should be cleaned twice. I'm not sure why but I think this assumes things have never been cleaned before.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...
The cleaner is available from asda stores and also online at www.asda.com, and costs 85p, so very good value for money.
VERDICT...
This cleaner definitely works. It's definitely more of a product for bathrooms and kitchens than other rooms as it's not suggested that it is used on wooden surfaces. That said, it is quite multi purpose and I have used it on kitchen work surfaces, and the oven as well as taps with results as good as those achieved when used on glass. It is easy to use and if sprayed sparingly over the surface, it leaves a nice streak free surface. I think if too much of the product is used it would be more difficult to get a good result so it is important not to use too much.
Reasonably priced and easy to use, I would recommend this.
