Ambi Pur 3volution
Advantages: Lovely smells
Disadvantages: perhaps the expense
For a while there my wife was into candles of varying degrees of scent and size. They were fine and in the most part worked well in drifting a nice fresh clean and usually pleasant smell around the house. Recently however it those plug in things that have caught her attention. This is probably due to the fact quite a few shops round our way frequently have this type of product on offer.
I've used quite a few Ambi Pur products in the past and in fact my current car freshener is of this make. I've grown to accept that although they are usually a bit more expensive than the other brands they do seem to last longer and the fragrances on offer are of a wider range and can be varied in use for different rooms. The single version of the Ambi Pur plug in is very nice and comes in many varied and nice scents, but the clever thing about the 3volution is that there are three fragrances in the one kit/pack and these disperse at different rates and rotate the fragrance so as you do not become too familiar with the one currently being wafted around the room.
I have found that if you use the same one for a long period you become slightly immune to its scent therefore it becomes a bit useless. There are once again various pretty named versions of the 3volution but by far my favourite is the Winter Dream collection. I guess in essence the fragrances in this set are predominantly considered winter smells, but I feel they are suitable pretty much all year round at least I like them and when its my turn to choose the delicate odour to be drifting around the room this is the one I choose.
Hints of cinnamon and woody offerings are the main characteristics of the three scents in this pack, whilst every so often a subtle hint of vanilla creeps in. Every so often
(it says 45 mins on the box but I think it varies considerably from this figure) it changes the fragrance and you are rewarded with a fresh clean scent slowly overpowering the previous scent. This cycle of changing happens through the plug in unit which unfortunately has to be bought separately at a cost of around £6.50 added the cost of this refill at around £3.49 and your talking a tenner to get some nice smells drifting around your house. The good news is that the main operating unit only needs to be purchased once and the 3volution refills simple pull out and are replaced with the new ones.
Other versions include Oriental Japanese Garden, Nevada Dessert, each with its own unique combination of three fragrances, and each with its own charm and feels. Most of the ones available have a sniff and scratch surface on the from face of the packet so you can try before you buy. The main unit is sturdy and can take a fair bit of battering if the hoover tends to knock it now and then. It is white in colour so fits in with most décor.
The three scents in the winter dream collection are designed to compliment each other whilst at the same time being completely different in order that you should have a continual breeze of fresh and nice whiffs wafting around. The scents are quite strong and the changing every 45 mins or so makes the room feel a bit newer each time. The hints of spice and wood an d vanilla all work quite well along with some other pleasant niffs lingering in the background.
They are a bit expensive, but this is well compensated for in the fact that they rotate smells, are strong enough to be noticed and to freshen the room. They also last quite a bit longer than other types. The main unit has a strength control on the side so you can adjust the fragrance from strong down to mild; there are three settings here. I think even though they are more expensive they are worth the little extra for the quality of smells, the variety of other fragrances on offer. The winter dream collection shall I think remain my favourite for a while although I am quite fond of most of the other offerings.
Summary: A nice range of different and varied scents
