Asda Mandarin & Mango Washing Up Liquid
Advantages: Works well, great value for money & has a pleasant fragrance..
Disadvantages: None for me!
I have purchased several washing up liquid products from the ASDA own-label range, and have found most of them to be of a fairly high quality, working well whilst offering an excellent value for money price.
One item in the range that I had not tried until recently was the Asda "Mandarin & Mango Washing Up Liquid" which struck me instantly as being a product that I would like, purely based on its fragrance. I adore the scent of mango and regularly use skincare products that are fragranced with the fruity aroma. I decided to purchase the washing up liquid as soon as I saw it, and paid only 88 pence for the generously sized 740ml bottle of liquid, which I thought was a fantastic value price.
Packaged in a clear plastic bottle which can be recycled after use, the Asda washing up liquid is a bright orange colour that matches the name of the product perfectly. The cap is easy to use, being a plastic 'flip up' design, and I have had no problems with using this at all.
The liquid itself is quite thick and it has a very similar consistency to other brands of washing up liquid that I use regularly, and this is the case with most of the other Asda 'own label' liquids that I have bought before too. I have bought budget branded liquids before that are far too thin and runny for my liking, and I find that such runny liquid can cause unnecessary mess, so I was pleased that the Asda's own label liquid is of a thick enough consistency to allow for a mess-free washing up ritual.
The Mandarin & Mango washing up liquid lathers very easily upon immediate contact with the hot water running from the tap. I find that a reasonable amount of foamy lather is produced almost instantly, which allows my dishes to be cleaned effectively. I do not find that the lather produced is lacking in anything, or is lacking in its quantity, which is another bug-bear I have found with cheaper-branded washing up liquids I have used before.
There is a beautifully fragrant aroma produced whilst I am using the product which I actually find quite refreshing when compared to other similar products which can often contain a much more 'clinical' aroma. In the case of this liquid however, the fragrance is of course very fruity and sweet, making it a much more enjoyable product to use. I find that the fragrance doesn't linger for too long on my hands after I have washed the dishes but that is fine by me as I don't really want to be able to smell my household cleaning products after I have used them!
The Asda Mandarin & Mango liquid washes my dishes perfectly, and I have not found any problems with the products cleaning 'agents' not being effective. I actually find that the Asda washing up liquid works just as well as any other brand of liquid that I regularly buy - top brand name products included - which surprised me given the lower price of the Asda alternative. In the case of my dishes, mugs and cutlery, the items are left clean and shiny, with no soapy or dirty residue being left behind. And in the case of my pots and pans, I find that I usually need to give these a good rinse out before washing, to remove any food particles and debris that may be lurking - which is what I would do with any brand of washing up liquid - and a good squirt of the liquid, combined with some hot water from the tap makes light work of those grubby pans and leaves them looking spotless.
I think it is worth mentioning that I have very sensitive skin on my hands and certain household products - such as washing up liquid and soap powder - can cause an aggressive reaction to the sensitivity I regularly experience. I am happy to report however, that the Asda Mandarin & Mango washing up liquid has caused no unpleasant side-effects whilst I have been using it, and I don't even find it particularly drying to the skin on my hands. I therefore think it is actually a fairly mild formula and would recommend it for fellow sufferers of sensitive skin, based on my own experiences.
Asda do not allow any of their own-branded products to be tested on animals, and actually funds research into finding alternative methods of testing.
I am very pleased with the performance of the Asda Mandarin & Mango washing up liquid and think it works as effectively as any other brand of liquid that I buy on a regular basis. What makes this particular product even more attractive to me however, is the gorgeous refreshing fragrance that is so evident as soon as I begin to use the product. This is the main reason that I have chosen to buy this particular liquid over any other in the past few months and is its main selling point as far as I am concerned.
Summary: A supermarket-own branded washing up liquid that I highly recommend..!
