Asda Original Washing Up Liquid
Advantages: Cheap, cheerful and does exactly whats it's supposed to!
I love cleaning, this has never been any sort of secret in my house, especially as I started my career in the hospital where I work as a cleaner.
I am not, however a brand junkie, one of those people who convince themselves that a product is only worth having due to a well marketed image.
I do though now the difference between a good value washing up liquid and a cheap one, you know which ones I mean, you have to use half a bottle to get a few bubbles!
The product I will review is - "Asda's original washing up liquid"
The packaging is as you would expect for a cheaper own branded product, the bottle is a bog standard washing up liquid bottle with a basic label. The label simply states that this is an original scented liquid and that is has the best ever cleaning properties and is grease busting.
The liquid is green in colour and is visible through the clear bottle.
Ok so the road test!
I start filling up my washing bowl with as hot water as I can get out of the tap and put a good slug into the bowl. As soon as the hot water mingles with the liquid the bubbles rapidly appear. These are thick and creamy with there being an abundance of them.
The scent of the liquid is a very fresh and unfortunately indescribable scent, this again is reasonably strong and hits you when the steam starts billowing of the bowl. (I did say I like the water to be hot!)
Now the important part, the cleaning ability. This liquid is really very good! Of course it is never going to be Fairy liquid, but I was surprised at the amount I had to put into the bowl.
Usually I have to keep topping the bowl up with liquid just to get through a single washing up session, this is just one generous squirt when filling the bowl up and that's it.
The price is of course the main draw for me. For a 500ml bottle it will set you back around 70ish pence. The fact that there is an ongoing offer at Asda which means you get 2 bottles for £1.00 is incredible value.
There are other "flavours" available in this range, these being -
Tea tree and mint
These I will highly recommend, I think sometimes, at least where well known brands are concerned, people are blinded into thinking a higher price means better quality products. I know that in some cases this is of course true, but in this case I disagree.
