“ Brand: Asda / Type: Toilet Gel / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
While shopping in Asda I was stocking up on a few cleaning items and a toilet cleaner was on my list as I love value store brands I picked up a bottle of this in lemon and as I have had good experiences with cheap value cleaners in the past I thought I would give it a go and I have to admit I have been pleasantly surprised. The scent is noticeable as soon as you unscrew the lid and it hits you straight away rather than just being a nice lemon scent which I find a lot of the cleaning range that come in lemon are this has a real chemical scent to it and this definitely dominates the lemon which I thought was a little disappointing. This scent continues to shine through while cleaning the toilet but also for a few flushes later which is actually really good as with some value ranges I find the scent disappears almost straight away. The more time after the product has been used the chemical smell fades and the lemon begins to show through although nowhere near as strong as when it is first applied. The bottle is easy to open for me but is still hard enough to open it prevents my children being able to do so though although with all cleaning products it needs to be kept out of reach of children. The consistency of the cleaner means it pours well out of the slanted tip of the bottle and makes it very easy to reach the whole of the toilet pan at a fairly even amount of the product is spread throughout which I find is a lot more effective at cleaning. It aids in removing any unwanted items on my toilet bowl and helps give it a fresh scent at the same time so once I clean my toilet it not only sparkles clean but also smells refreshed too. With the Tesco brand toilet cleaner I find it can be rather difficult to remove every spot of the cleaner away and it takes me a few attempts where as with this it is simple to remove and the bright yellow colour of the product is sure to show me if I managed to miss any of the product. Even if I add some of this product before bed at night it flushes away easily the next day and leaves my bathroom smelling lovely. It comes in a 750 ml bottle which does last a good few weeks I have two young children that have recently began using the toilet and this can means it becomes rather messy and soon will be potty training my youngest son so I tend to have to clean my toilet every day and still the product lasted rather well. The price is very attractive too it cosy around 71 pence but you can buy two for £1 and just went for the one bottle in case it was rubbish but I did regret it as 3 out of my 4 weekly shops are done at Tesco and then once a month we choose to either visit Morrison, Asda or Aldi which means it is months at a time before we would visit asda again but next time I will be stocking up as this is my favourite value product for cleaning my toilet. I would recommend this toilet cleaner it is nice and cheap and definitely cheerful it gets the job done well and lasts well enough I will be stocking up again when we next visit Asda.
We have been fortunate enough to move in to a new build home around two years ago. This meant that everything was completely new including the toilet and all the bathroom fixings. This pleased me no end as it meant that we got a completely new toilet and there was no horrible lime scale marks to remove or worry about. As we live in a hard water area it was not long before my toilet looked a little bit grimy and darker around the water line. I was disappointed and found that just using the toilet brush to scrub this was not working, I had to get a very strong lime scale cleaner that did not smell very well and was quite expensive. This worked effectively but I started to look in to a product that sat inside my loo (a rim block), a product that sat in the tank to change the water colour and a toilet cleaner that was mild enough in smell to use every day to keep on top of any problems as and when they arise. I have been using toilet cleaner every day since and I picked up this Asda toilet gel on a visit to Asda last month and I paid just £1.00 for two bottles that are usually 75p each. This toilet gel looks quite standard really. It comes in a 750ml bottle with an angled neck and a press in and twist childproof cap. The angled neck is designed to make it easier to pour this gel under the rim of your toilet and it certainly does! I am able to remove the cap easily and I can place the angled neck under the rim and then twist the bottle around the rim to ensure an even distribution of gel underneath the rim of my toilet. The gel then slowly trickles down the toilet bowl and eventually covers basically the whole toilet bowl. I always ensure that I squirt some extra around the bottom of the toilet myself to ensure an even distribution over the whole stretch of the toilet bowl. This liquid is yellow (as I expected) and has a lemon scent to it. This scent is not overpowering but is quite fragrant and when I leave this in my toilet overnight in brings a nice smell throughout my fairly small bathroom. I do feel that this scent complements my bathroom well and I like knowing that my bathroom smells pleasant when I have visitors round. When I use this I tend to leave it overnight once I retire to bed for the evening and then in the morning I will give the toilet bowl a wipe round if needed using my toilet brush and then I just flush the chain. There are a small amount of bubbles produced when the chain is flushed but that is not a problem and just leaves a little of the fragrance lingering which is not a bad point at all. This gel works very well at removing stains and it definitely helps to keep my toilet looking and smelling clean. My toilet bowl looks brilliantly white after I have used this and the water line mark is a thing of the past for my toilet! The only downside I can think of is that one night my husband put the gel in the toilet for me and he closed the toilet lid down. He didn't say anything at the time and I would never have thought it would be a problem if he had but unfortunately by the morning the inside of the lid of our toilet seat had been stained a faint yellow colour. This is obviously quite a big downside but perhaps you are not supposed to do that? It had never occurred to me before as I had always just left the lid up and put it down upon flushing the gel away in the morning. Of course if you have young children or an inquisitive pet then it might not be convenient to leave the toilet lid down, it is also worth mentioning that the toilet lid is a gloss type one and when I contacted Asda about this they advised me that it was not a known problem and so rather than blaming the product I am going to chalk this one up for experience! I would definitely recommend this toilet gel but if you do have a glossy or fanciful finish on your toilet seat lid then I would advise leaving this up when using this gel.
One place that I am really funny about being grimy and dirty is my toilet. Being bulimic (binging and purging) and because I have been a laxative abuser its fair to say that my toilets over the years have seen a fair bit of action! Because of having been so ill I always have bleach and specific toilet cleaning products in my bathroom! I bought this the other week and it cost me just £1.00 for two bottles of the 750ml size as it was on offer at the time however usually it is 75p a bottle. The Packaging: The bottle the product comes in is bright yellow with a twist and push safty cap to the top of it in bright red. On the front of the bottle we are told that it is Asda 'Chosen By you' Toilet Gel 'Lemon' and that it kills 99% of germs, removes limescale and eliminates odours in the toilet bowl then on the back of the bottle we are told how to use it, the ingredients are stated as are some cautions, the size is stated (as I have listed already) and contact details for Asda are given. Nice enough, bright packaging this is and I do like the angled nozzle to the top of it for ease to be able to get the bottle under the rim. Using It: The liquid is rather thin, bright yellow and see through and you simple need to squirt a fair amount under your toilet rim, it dribbles down and helps to remove grease and pure dirt from the bowl really easily. I had some dark brown limescale tucked under my toilet rim that after a couple of uses of this it completely vanished. I am happy with the smell of this its not too strong but lemony fresh enough and natural in the fragrance stakes though not as strong as I had initially expected it be! I like to use this liquid and leave it to kill germs and bacteria overnight to which in the morning I simply flush it away and I feel confident its done its job well. If there is real grime in my loo I can use this to wipe it way with a toilet brush or cloth if it doesn't do it all by itself though really this to me is the best thing to use keep my toilet smelling fresh and clean and to know its clean! All in all this is a nice, economical product and one I would be happy to buy time and time again in the future. Only avaailable from Asda and from Asda.com
I bought this from my local Asda store as for all I use bleach to give my toilet a good clean I wanted something that I could use day to day. The toilet gel is available in 2 different fragrances and costs 75p a bottle however it is often on offer at 2 bottles for £1 which is a good saving. The product comes in a squeezy 750ml bottle made of plastic and coloured yellow, the top of the bottle is a red screw cap and the next odf the bottle leans to one side to allow you to get the correct angel to get under the toilet rim. On the front label there is the name of the product and the promises that it kills 99.9% of bacteria which in a toilet is especially important. On the back of the bottle is some information such as Asda is against animal testing, it kills 99.9% of germs and eliminates odours in the toilet bowl, it removes limescale and kills E.Coli, Salmonella and MRSA when used neat in laboratory tests using typed strains. The ingredients amonst others are less than 5% Non-Ionic Surfactants, also contains: Disinfectant, Perfume, Limonene. The smell of the toilet gel is pretty good and you can smell lemons rather than cleaning products, the gel is thick and yellow in colour. The product is easy to use, you have to nip the two sides together of the screw top to open it this is to prevent children being able to open the bottle. You simply direct the bottle under the rim and squirt all around, you should leave the product in the toilet for an hour for a really good clean and then I always give it a scrub with a clean toilet brush. The toilet gel works well and leaves the toilet really clean however the scent lets it down, I have tried named brands such as toilet duck and the smell remains for hours whereas with this by the time you return to it after an hour the smell has near enough gone. I don't know why but I like a bathroom to smell clean aswell as look clean, I will buy this again if there is nothing better on offer when I shop and it is a good cleaner I just prefer a stronger long lasting smell.
Having tried many of Asda's Smartprice own brand as well as their Chosen By You brand and I have been very impressed. I always find that when it comes to cleaning products I always get a good result no matter the brand I use, as long as the price is right I'll give it a go. One of the products I decided to give a try try was this 'Chosen By You Toilet Gel' in Lemon. These are normally around the 70p mark for a 750ml bottle however whilst on offer these can be purchased at 2 for £1 which I personally think is a great deal, considering it works out at just 22p more expensive than the Smartprice brand. The bottle is the perfect height and fitness to fit in the storage unit on the back of my bathroom door and is easily big enough to hold one handed without any issues. The curved top makes it extremely easy to get the liquid under the rim clearing out all those nasties in the process. I also like the colour of the bottle, being bright yellow it adds a splash of colour to the room which is very welcome. The cap is easy enough to screw on and off but it does have the child lock safety feature meaning you have to squeeze either side of the cap whilst twisting to unlock it. Having a 3 year old this is a very useful and gives me peace of mind that he won't be able to get into it. Onto the product itself, on opening the cap it's not just a pure lemon scent but it's one that seems to smell of both lemon and bleach which I found a little strange at first but it's not unpleasant at all and it obviously contains all the right products for cleaning a loo. The liquid spreads extremely easily around the bowl and the angled spout means that I can get it very even and thin so as not to waste any which is always a good thing in my opinion. I found it very easy to get rid of any yukky bits in the toilet using this cleaner. I also found it easy to leave the gel in the toilet overnight to freshen it up and it cleans right off with a simple flush in the morning. It allows me to always have a clean, fresh toilet. The bowl is always left very clean and I can't say I have any problems with this gel at all. It does what it should and cleans the loo whilst leaving it fresh which is exactly why I bought it. Getting them on offer is definitely a bonus and I have started stocking up. Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves as they say.
I regularly shop in my local Asda supermarket, as well as order online using their website at www.asda.co.uk. I usually need to buy household cleaners of some sort whilst I am shopping and I have tried out several of the products in the 'Asda' own-branded range, finding most of them work well and are a reasonable price. Having tried the "Asda Toilet Gel" in the Pine fragrance in the past and being relatively pleased with the results, I was making a repeat purchase of the product recently when I spotted that the range of Asda Toilet Gels were available as part of a special promotion. Whilst one bottle of toilet gel would cost me up to 75 pence, I could purchase two bottles for only £1. Taking advantage of this promotional deal, I purchased one bottle in each of the two fragrances available, namely pine and lemon. The Asda Lemon Toilet Cleaner comes in a 750ml plastic bottle that is a bright yellow colour and has a red plastic cap or lid on the top. The neck of the bottle is angled which is specifically designed to allow the neck to reach under the toilet rim and around the inside of the toilet bowl when cleaning it. I find that this design is quite a useful one and the angled neck allowed the 'spout' at the top of the bottle to reach under the rim of the toilet much better than if the bottle had a straight neck. The cap on the bottle is made of robust plastic and when it is turned 'fully' you can hear a loud clicking noise which makes it more difficult to unscrew off. This is presumably a child-safety feature and I have come across this design on many similar products that I have bought in the past. The Asda Toilet Gel is easy to use and I find that it is thin enough to 'spread' around the toilet bowl quite easily. I have had no problems with it rinsing off either, which is a huge plus point as it is a bright yellow colour! I have bought similar products in the past that are more 'budget' branded than this one, and I found that it could be quite difficult to remove all traces of the product or residue from the product completely from the toilet bowl. This was annoying and off-putting and so I am glad that I have not experienced any such problems with the Asda Toilet Gel. A generous 'squirt' of the cleaner gel tends to be enough to clean the insides of the bowl, so I have found that this particular toilet cleaner has worked out to be quite an economical purchase. The bottle lasted several weeks before it ran out and had to be replaced, and for the extremely value price that I paid for the bottle, I think this product works out to be a highly economical purchase. The lemon fragrance that the product contains is not one that I find particularly appealing or uplifting, but as the product is purely designed to clean my toilet, this is not something that would deter me from purchasing the product again in the future. As long as the product works effectively (and it is fair to say that this one certainly does) then I am happy enough with that. The lemon-based fragrance is quite strong, and I find it is evident in my bathroom the whole time that I am cleaning the toilet and for a short while afterwards, even after the toilet has been flushed. I find also that the fragrance is quite a heavy one and it really just smells like a lemon cleaner product to me. This is not a negative point, but it seems to be just a 'does what it says on the tin' kind of product, and that is absolutely fine with me. It is worth noting too that several other brands of toilet cleaners I have bought in the past have really caught in my throat when I have been using them, so much so that I have had to leave the room. With the Asda Lemon Toilet Gel however, I did not find that this was the case at all, which I felt was a definite plus point! After use, the toilet bowl is left sparkling clean and smelling fresh and there is no unsightly residue left behind. I thought that the cleaner worked well and left the toilet bowl smelling and looking immaculate. Asda is against animal testing and actually funds research into finding alternatives. Overall, I was very happy with the performance of the Asda Lemon Toilet Gel and it is most definitely a product that I would purchase again. It seemed to be a cheap and cheerful cleaner product, but for the brilliant value price, I thought it offered great value and was an economical purchase. Highly recommended from me..!
