When it comes to cleaning products I usually opt for whatever is cheap and/or on offer. I don't buy really cheap stuff usually because I am not a huge fan of cleaning due to ill health and want jobs to be done as quick and as effortlessly as it all can possibly be! However I have heard of Astonish products and my Mum speaks very highly of them and of when I saw this Astonish Bathroom Cleaner for only a pound in a local discount store I decided to give it a whirl.
The bathroom cleaning liquid comes in a see through plastic bottle and on the front of it we are clearly told what it is and who it is by and the size is stated which is 750ml and then on the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product, how to use it, the ingredients are given (this is not tested on animals by the way), warnings are given contact details for the manufacturer are clearly stated. The spray is easily sprayed out via a tigger action plastic....well sprayer to the top of it which has a safety feature to it as well so you can turn it off and on. Simple but informative and robust packaging this is and I do appreciate being able to see the liquid through it too so I can see when I need to grab more bathroom cleaner!
In the bottle you can see the thin blue coloured but still transparent liquid and basically you can use it on ceramics, plastic, acrylic and on porcelain. I pretty much use this everywhere but on mirrors and glass.
All I do to use this is to spray directly to where I want to clean and wipe it away, I never feel the need to rinse but then I don't use very much anyway...saying that I do rinse the bath with my shower head after using it.
A little of this goes a really long way, it doesn't really have a scent and it works really well. I wipe my toilet and sink over (including my stainless steel taps there on my bath), I wipe over my pvc window frame lightly with it, even my wooden shelving unit I have built into my wall. I clean my loo with it and for stubborn, dirty stains I spray some of it and leave it to work its magic for a minute or so and then go give it a quick wipe....it really works ever so well indeed and without to much elbow grease from me. I even give my lino a quick wipe over in my bathroom if I can't be bothered to get my mop and bucket out for the job and because its a none greasy formula I feel its safe to do this and it really does leave everything looking and feeling very clean and in a nice sparkling way.
I didn't expect this to be so good for just a pound but it really is and just as good as Flash and the likes that can cost over double the amount of this (if not found on offer!). If I had one quibble with this bathroom spray I'd like more scent so my bathroom is left with a clean smell as well as looking fresh and clean but then I guess you can't have it all!
Would I Buy This Again?:
Yes I would buy this again. It makes quick work of my cleaning and it's cheap and so doesn't break my budget without me having to compromise on quality!
Google if interested and this can usually be found in discount stores and local small convenience stores.
I am not loyal to one particular brand when it comes to bathroom cleaner. I do tend to opt for branded products simply because I have found that the vast majority of them work well and they can always be found on offer somewhere so they pose excellent value for money.
Astonish is a brand I hadnt used before and to be honest I'm unsure if I had even heard of them prior to buying this product. I bought mine a few months ago from Ocado when they had both the bathroom cleaner and kitchen cleaner on offer. I believe I paid just £1 for the bottle which I think is brilliant value for money.
The bottle is very similar to the one shown above but the picture on the front is slightly different now. The product is blue in colour and the trigger spray is now an opaque blue in colour.
To use the spray you simply spray the product onto the bathroom surfaces you wish to clean and then wipe clean with a cloth. I use this all over the bathroom - on the toilet, bath, sink and tiles. I find the spray bottle really easy to use. The trigger is easy to push and a good amount of the product comes out in a steady stream. The cleaner foams up when it comes out of the bottle and you only need a small amount of the product to clean a good area.
Sometimes I spray the product and then wipe immediately, I usually do this on areas like the toilet and tiles. I find that it cleans well and leaves the surface shiny and clean. Some areas I leave the product to work for a couple of minutes before wiping it clean such as the sink which often gets grubby with toothpaste and soap etc. When this is the case I find that it cuts through the dirt really well and it is easy to wipe clean. I always use this on my taps and I find that it brings them up really shiny.
The bottle has lasted me around a month so it does represent good value for money. I really like this cleaner and would definitely buy it again. It works really well and leaves my bathroom spotlessly clean. I would pay more for this because it works so well but if you can find it at the price I did then you really should try it!
I am not particularly fussy when it comes to using a particular brand of cleaner for my bathroom and will often choose something which is on offer if I am in a supermarket. The last time my bathroom cleaning spray ran out though I decided to go to the local discount store to see what they had on offer to purchase and came away with a bottle of astonish bathroom cleaner which cost me just a pound.
The bathroom cleaner comes in a clear plastic bottle which features a blue pump style lid for spraying the product on to a surface or your cleaning cloth. It is quite a flexible plastic but holds the clear liquid inside well. On the front of the bottle there is a picture of a sparkling bathroom tap with the astonish name as well as the product name too. On the back of the bottle there is another label which tells us that the product is designed specifically for use in the bathroom and that it will aid us in removing soap scum, limescale, bath rings and dirt and is ideal for pretty much every area in your bathroom which is certainly something that appeals to me as I would rather not faff around with various products for just one room if I can help it.
When using this bathroom cleaner I do tend to just spray it directly on to the surfaces that I need to clean unless I am wiping down my skirting boards quickly in which case I spray a little on a cloth and just wipe them down that way. The clear liquid does have a clean scent I guess but in my opinion it could do with being a little more appealing as I don't really like how it lingers. When I use the bathroom cleaner in my sink or bath I just spray where I need it and it kind of foams up and I rub it in and wipe it away. I find that the cleaner makes light work of cleaning my bathroom but I do clean my bathroom a couple of times a week and so it is not having to deal with too many issues and the main ones are toothpaste in the sink, marks on the taps or the rings around the bath but regardless of this fact I do not have to spend too long cleaning my bathroom as this seems to make my taps shine and remove marks easily.
I have used this bathroom cleaner for all over my bathroom including the sink, bath, skirting boards, around the toilet and even sometimes on the floor as I have a white laminate flooring in my bathroom which picks up the slightest scuff and looks messy so this cleaner helps me to remove them easily too. I would certainly say this is a very good basic bathroom cleaner and certainly ideal if you don't want to mess around with too many products. The bottle that I have is 750ml and as I said cost me just £1 and I have had it a good few months now and still have plenty left in the bottle. It is available on amazon for £3.10 a bottle but I would recommend checking your local discount stores or even poundland or something before ordering from there.
Obviously with products such as this it is important to keep it out of the reach of children and I always make sure that I turn the nozzle on the spray to the off position after use as well even though my son is aware he shouldn't touch cleaning products. It is advised on the bottle to use rubber gloves when using this product too but I have never suffered any kind of reaction to my skin from not doing.
I would certainly recommend this product as it has worked well in my home and is really simple to use as well. As much as I do spend quite a lot of time cleaning my home as I want it to be nice I do like tasks to be as easy as possible and this particular spray helps me with that.
Thank you for reading my review!
