“ Brand: Astonish / Type: Cleaning Spray / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
Astonish is a brand I have used for a number of years now. I first bought it from a TV shopping channel where one paste like tub would clean anything from trainers to cookers. Now the brand makes lots of products for different purposes. I haven't been disappointed in any of their cleaners I have tried so far, one of these being the stainless steel cleaner.
I bought this in a discount store, it can be found in Poundland and for the 740ml bottle I think £1 is a really good price.
The bottle is clear with a blue trigger spray on the top. The nozzle can be twisted to close it as a safety feature and is quite stiff to open and close. The label is mostly silver and blue in colour. The label tells you to wash your hands after use and to rinse skin with water if it is spilled. I always wash my hands after using any cleaning product and haven't found any skin reaction to this cleaner.
The label also states that the cleaner is specially developed for cleaning stainless steel sinks, draining boards and highly polished stainless steel leaving it shiny and free of water marks.
The directions are to spray it onto a surface, wipe with a wet cloth and then polish dry leaving no residue. For my sink and draining board this is how I use it, on smaller surfaces I spray the liquid onto a sponge and wipe the surface before wiping with a wet cloth and drying.
Especially for appliances such as stainless steel toasters or kettles I feel this is a safer way to clean them than spraying it directly onto them when they could go inside the appliance. I also use the cleaner on taps and door handles and find it much easier on a cloth or sponge.
It doesn't smell too bad or too "chemically", it smells a little like furniture polish but the smell goes when rinsed and polished.
The spray is very quick and easy to use. A fair amount on the cleaner comes out in one spray so only a couple of sprays will clean a draining board or sink. It is easy to wipe without the need for much elbow grease. When wiped with a cloth and polished dry it does leave my surfaces shiny and clean with little effort. Even polishing the surfaces dry seems very easy after using this. The problem with most homes with stainless steel surfaces is that unless you live in a show home and don't use the surfaces or appliances they get grubby again within a couple of uses.
I don't think this cleaner prevents the surfaces becoming dirty or grimy at all so the effects are not that long lasting. The only thing this does last well on is my kettle as it is stainless steel with a plastic handle. As I'm not actually handling the stainless steel part, when cleaned with the Astonish spray it stays nice and clean much longer than other surfaces.
As it's easy and quick to use and does leave things shiny and streak free it is one I like and would choose over other brands. The bottle has lasted me months and I still have plenty left. It is easy to see the clear liquid through the bottle and for £1 it is excellent value as it lasts a long time. I haven't tried any stainless steel cleaner that is better than this so I would continue to buy it.
