I adore the scent of Avon's range of strawberry Naturals products so I was as pleased as punch when my sister gave me a selection of their products including a Strawberry and Guava Room and Linen Spray, she's an Avon lady so regularly gets freebies and discounted items to use as demonstrators or to sell on at a profit to her. Unfortunately she's an Avon lady for the fun of it and isn't exactly business woman of the year so these freebies usually end up gracing my bathroom shelves as she just hasn't got it in her to make a hard sell!

I must admit, if I'd paid £2.50 for this spray I would have been mighty disappointed. It has the same gorgeously summery scent that the matching shampoo and shower gel has, the deep yet light aroma of strawberries with an underlying fruitier fragrance which I assume is guava. It smells absolutely divine - for about two minutes!

This is the fatal flaw with using this particular fragrance as a Room and Linen Spray; it's just too delicate to freshen the air in an entire room and while it may be excellent if you are the type of person who has one of those pristine houses, my bungalow is certainly lived in and with three cats (and three regularly visiting grandchildren) I need something with a little more oomph than this has!

A few squirts of this spray leaves a mist of fragrance which is beautiful while it lasts, do not be fooled that this is going to cover up any nasty odours as it's just not a strong enough scent. I found it was fine for spritzing my curtains as they are low traffic and sitting beside my open windows get plenty of fresh air anyway. The scent does seem to linger a little better on the curtains than anywhere else, perhaps it's the warmth from the sun or the breeze coming through the window but it does help the fragrance to spread through my living room somewhat.

I have used the spray on my bed clothes and some summer clothes that I had taken out of storage for my break last weekend, the fragrance didn't make a great deal of difference and I still had to go to the effort of rewashing the clothes which was what I had been hoping to avoid as they were not dirty just a little musty from being stored. The spray also makes absolutely no difference at all to the 'lovely' scent of my cats' beds - which was rather annoying as other fragrances in the Room and Linen Spray range do help with the catty smell that sometimes occurs through having three cat beds in a line!

I gave it up as a bad job eventually and used the last of the bottle as a general air freshener, although it performs just as badly in this manner as as a linen spray. The fragrance, while refreshing, disappears very quickly and doesn't leave any sense of having recently freshened the air in the room.

I noticed that the spray in the bottle goes down very quickly, this surprised me as the fragrances comes out in a very fine mist and it appears that there is very little used with each squirt. It does leave fabrics a little damp immediately after spraying though so apparently it's dispensing more than I originally thought. There is absolutely no staining to any fabric I used it on, which is a good thing I suppose although had there been any I would certainly have sent the cleaning bill to Avon as it was their useless (but wonderfully smelling) product that had caused it!
