Buster Bathroom Plughole Unblocker
Advantages: effective, does what it promises
I have always just bought whatever product was near me at the time if I've ever had a plug blockage in the past but this time when I was at Morrisons, I saw this brand on offer. I haven't ever heard of them before but my shower had recently started to have more water sitting in the bottom when I was in it whereas normally the water goes right down the drain and there is no build up of water. This is when I realised that it was time to get a plughole unblocker as the drain must have been slightly blocked from general use.
This plughole unblocker comes in a small bottle which has 300ml of product in it. It is a black coloured bottle with a brighter blue lid and the whole theme is blue because it is the bathroom range, they also do a kitchen one. This has a picture of a drain on the front and in bold white type says 'Plughole Unblocker' it all looks strong and it is light and easy to hold as well as being quite compact. On the front are a few bits of important information and on the reverse is the more detailed facts.
BUSTER BATHROOM PLUGHOLE UNBLOCKER
Luckily, I didn't have a major blockage but I knew it still had to be treated and could get worse if not sorted now. This product is meant to dissolve hair and soap as well as stopping slow draining water and using it regularly will stop build up. On the reverse to summarise this product, it says that it is a concentrated product that clears hair and soap sludge from bathroom plugholes and pipes. This was my first time using it but having used it once, it is handy to have.
There are warnings that come with products like this, on the reverse of the bottle these are listed. This should be stored upright at all times in a cool, dry place and the cap should be kept shut tightly. The product is suitable for use on all pipes and septic systems and be careful on gold plated fittings. This is only for use in bathrooms and if you do need to unblock any problems in the kitchen then they do state that you use their specific kitchen product.
Now, to start with when I read how to use this I was shocked that in extreme case for blockages and slow draining pipes that they recommend to use the entire 300ml of the bottle. It seemed a lot but I didn't have an extreme blockage so didn't use this. If you are using the whole bottle it states to leave for 15 minutes but ideally overnight for best results. They then tell you to flush through with lots of hot water to make sure this product is as effective as possible.
For what I have it says to pour atleast a third (100ml) of the bottle slowly down the plughole, to be on the safe side, I used half of the bottle. This should be left to work overnight again it should be flushed with hot water and can be used weekly or when required. I will only use this again when I notice water build up but it is very easy to use. I wore gloves when using to be safe and then slowly poured half directly down the drain, it is a clear liquid that smells a bit like bleach.
Once it was down the drain, I left it there overnight as I wanted the best results, I was then away for the weekend so the shower was not used for a few days. However, when I returned I did have a shower and there was no water build up at all, it had cleared the drain just like it said it would and I was very pleased with how effective it was. I now half some left for when the plug blocks slightly again but it is a great product to have in your cupboard.
I purchased my 300ml bottle of this in Morrisons it is currently on special offer for just £2 which is money well spent but normally it costs something like £2.89 which still isn't bad, Tesco sell it for this price.
I couldn't locate an official website for this brand but their product is very widely sold.
