“ Brand: Cif / Type: Floor Cleaner / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
I have wooden flooring in my living room and kitchen, and carpet in all the other areas of our tiny flat. Having a 3 year old means the floor can from time to time get quite sticky with spillages, and usually once a month or so I'll move all the furniture out and give the house a good, hoover and mop from top to toe. I was browsing in my 99p store some time ago when I came across this Cif Liquid Floor Cleaner in Wild Orchid scent which seemed a bargain. Granted, some of it isn't in English but costing 99p for a 1 litre bottle sounds good value to me!
It comes in a really handy plastic bottle which is transparent and has a hole carved in the side to make the bottle have a built in handle. This makes it really ideal and easy to use for pouring so is a fab design. Inside the liquid is a pinkish/fuschia colour and looks really girly which was initially why my attention was drawn to it! Opening the bottle, it smells very sweet and floral and reminds me somewhat of a perfume! Smelling it too deeply it did irritate my nose, and made me sleep but just a little sniff and it's really sweet and a lovely aroma.
The cif cleaner is easy to use and although the back is mainly in what I assume to be Italian (I think!) it is self explanatory to use this by diluting it in warm water. I never measure out exactly, but I add about half a capful of this to 2 litres worth of boiling water and get mopping!
The cleaner soaks into the warm water really easily and when mopping it leaves my floors looking clean and the room smelling fresh. In terms of removing grubby stains, I find with a little elbow grease from myself and the toughness of the mop it helps to clean the floor really effectively. Adding too much of the floor cleaner I do find it makes the water too bubbly and smells overtly strong so I learnt this the hard way after the first usage! So needless to say that a little of this goes a really long way and I have had this in my cupboard for probably 4 months or so now and it has hardly gone down!
Overall this cleaner is really good value for money, more interesting and homely than just using bleach alone and just as effective at cleaning. I love using it and can't see me buying any other product any time soon so I have to give it 5 stars!
Cif is a brand I have bought for many years, I find they are excellent value for money and work well for cleaning around my home. I love the colour pink and so this bottle attracted my attention when I was deciding which cleaner to buy. I hadn't bought this one before and so thought it was about time I gave it a go.
It comes inside a transparent plastic bottle which has a handle at the side, the handle I find handy because I can then pour the liquid from the bottle much easier. I am petite and can easily place my hand inside but my hubby obviously has larger hands and his hand fits inside it comfortably too.
The liquid is a pretty pink colour and it is just like water in my opinion. It has a really nice floral fragrance to it and one I love. It is quite a strong fragrance too and has staying power. It smells just like freshly cut flowers with an added perfume kind of scent.
It can be used neat or diluted. I just pour a small amount into hot water to mop my floors, it is ideal for lino floor covering, I have lino in my kitchen and bathroom and it cleans them really well. It removes all of the dirt on the floors and cuts into any grease which may be on the floor and also any stubborn stains.
I use it neat on a damp cloth to clean my kitchen and bathroom tiles, they are all white and a few patterned ones, this cleaner does clean them well and removes any grease on my kitchen tiles. I have also used it neat to clean my bathroom and bathroom sink. Only a small amount is enough cleaner to clean them and it is also very easy to rinse too. It does leave my white bathroom sink looking nice and shiny when it has dried and it hasn't damaged my stainless steel sink in my kitchen.
It doesn't leave streak marks on the surfaces, which is brilliant because I hate it when the sun shines through the windows and the floors or surfaces look streaky. This one leaves no residue on surfaces which is a huge bonus not to annoy me after it has dried.
I use it diluted to clean windowsills and worktops in my kitchen, it also rinses well from my kitchen tops. It helps my rooms smell nice after I have used it to clean them because the fragrance is so strong. Just leaves a really nice fresh smell.
I also just pour a small amount into my kitchen bin and then just rub the bottom of it and the sides and then just rinse it. I also clean the lid of the bin too. It removes any nasty smell which is at the bottom of the bin and leaves it smelling nice and fresh.
I think this cleaner is an excellent quality, it is only priced just over £2 depending where shop it is bought from. I think it is well worth this price because a little does go a very long way and the bottle lasts for quite a long time with regular usage.
If you love the smell of freshly cut flowers when you are cleaning, this one would be more than suitable in my opinion. If you are not so keen of a floral scent, I think this one may not be so suitable because it is quite a strong one and it leaves the fragrance in the room for quite some time after using it.
I clean my doors, door handles and any surfaces around my home which require a liquid cleaner and for washable surfaces. I have a toy box which is a kind of plastic material and is a white colour, this cleaner works really well to clean this toy box and it is one which does get a little grubby when my grandchildren have taken their toys from the box with sticky fingers. It removes those sticky marks very well in my opinion.
It is a versatile cleaner and I love the way it works diluted and neat. It gives me the choice to choose how to clean and if I am feeling a little lazy one day, I can just choose which way to use it. In my opinion I don't have a favourite way of using this one and use the one that I think I like to use that day depending if I have any stubborn marks etc.
I highly do recommend this cleaner for anyone looking for a nice one which cleans well and leaves surfaces perfectly clean and leaves the rooms smelling of fresh flowers. I will buy it again in the future because it cleans around my home in the way I expect a well known brand to work.
The bottle can be recycled after use too.

I give this one 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
Cif is part of the Unilever company and offers a huge range of cleaning products for the home. When it comes to buying cleaning products, I often buy what is on offer or products that I have been recommended to me. I often buy Cif products when they are on offer. When looking for a liquid floor cleaner I had a few options available in the Cif range but opted for 'Wild Orchid Floor Cleaner'. Other scents are available.
This floor cleaner is marketed as being perfect for removing light grease and tough dirt. It is suitable for use on most surfaces including laminate floor, linoleum, ceramic, vinyl and varnished wood surfaces. It can also be used on any other washable surface. This product promises to leave surfaces clean and with a 'brilliant shine'. Surfaces should be left residue free with no need to rinse (except when using on lino or washable surfaces). There is also the promise of a fresh fragrance with this floor cleaner.
This product can be used neat by applying to a wet sponge and cleaning the surfaces. In this instance, surfaces must be rinsed afterwards. It is mainly suited to being diluted and the recommendation is 3 capfuls per 5litres of water. It is important to store this product out of reach of children and pets and care should be taken when using it.
This floor cleaner is presented in a tall, slim bottle which is made of clear, durable plastic. The bottle has an intergrated handle for easy pouring and has a simply plastic cap (no child safety cap). The liquid itself is a transparent pink colour which stands out on the shelves of the supermarket on in the cleaning cupboard. The bottle can be recycled once empty.
~Price and Availability~
Wild Orchid Floor Cleaner is available in a 1litre size. It can be purchased from supermarkets and stores including Wilkos. Asda and Tesco currently offer it at £2.35. It is currently on offer in Wilkos priced at £1.50.
I chose this particular floor cleaner as it was on offer at the time and the pink liquid appealed to my girly side. As I do most of the household cleaning, I can indulge in a little girly looking products without my fiance moaning. Once he starts cleaning the floors and the loo (yes I buy the pink Bloo and the pink cistern tabs) he can complain about my choice of pink coloured products! I bought my 1l bottle from Wilkos back in October I believe but I am just about to run out so will need to make another purchase whilst it is still on offer.
The bottle is very easy to store as it so slim in design. In our home we only have carpets in two rooms (the living room and our sons bedroom) so the rest of the flooring consists of laminate, lino and a wet floor type flooring in the bathroom. I find that this floor cleaner is suitable for all of these types of flooring which means I don't need to purchase different products. It is very much a multipurpose product.
I'm not sure how often others clean their floors but I find sweeping it daily and washing them once or occasionally twice a week is most than sufficient for most of my floors but I do tend to wash the kitchen floor up to three times a week and more often if spills occur. It isn't specified if this liquid should be added to hot or cold water but I normally just pour a few capfuls into my bucket and fill it up with warm water. A nice layer of bubbles form on the surface of the water.
This floor cleaner has a lovely scent and this is evident as the water mixes with the liquid inside the bucket. It is a fresh, light floral scent with a soapy hint. To me it smells incredibly clean and not too chemical like which I appreciate. It smells much more natural than the Asda apple floor cleaner I had used previously. The scent isn't overpowering at all but it does linger on my floors for a short while and leaves my home smelling generally clean and fresh which I appreciate. It is much nicer than an overpowering bleach aroma in my opinion.
This floor cleaner is very effective. I don't normally allow my floors to become really bad and dirty to be fair but my hallway is often subject to muddy footprints from my sons wellies or fiances work boots/football trainers. Spillages are common in my kitchen and sometimes leakages from bin bags etc. I usually sweep my floors first and ensure they are clear. I always wash my floors when my son is at nursery to ensure he doesn't slip. I'm very clumsy and once forgot that I had washed the hall floor. I ran to answer the door, slipped and gave my self a sore one.
I did have the misfortune of having to clean up after workmen last week. I was having new windows put in every room and despite putting heavy duty dust sheets down, my flooring was absolutely covered in dust and footprints. I managed to sweep most of it up but had to give my floors an extra good clean. Cif didn't disappoint and the mess was cleared in next to know time.
Used in conjuction with my mop. all visible marks are removed from my flooring and any dirt is transfered into the water in the bucket rather than moved around from room to room. It is amazing how much dirt actually comes off my floors sometimes despite them not lookingt so dirty! I find that I am able to do all of my floors very quickly and without much effort on my part. The liquid is strong enough to release any muddy marks or spillage stains and my floors are left visibly shiny. The floors take a short while to full dry and no residue or uneven marks are evident - just clean, shiny and pleasant smelling flooring.
A 1l bottle is very long lasting and great value for money considering how well it performs. My floors are left looking fresh and clean but of course aren't resistent of further muddy marks (if only!). I don't feel the need to use this product for any other cleaning activities except for floor cleaning as I would rather use a spray of some kind on my bathroom surfaces. I can highly recommend this floor cleaner.
Thanks for reading :)
When I first moved into my large flat I was really pleased it was so modern, light and airy and laminated throughout. I'd always hated carpets and felt that laminate looked so much smarter.
Moving on a few months I find a laminate floor a right royal pain in the butt. I have a kitten and four hamsters that don't appreciate clean floors at all and daily I have to sweep and mop my floors which I hate!
I have tried a fair few floor cleaners, basically whatever I sniff in a store that smells nice and is a good price and this met that criteria costing me only a pound a bottle in Poundland (usually just over 2 quid a bottle in all good supermarkets etc if not on offer).
I bought this in a see through plastic bottle with a twist on/off cap to the top of it concealing a largish hole and then on the on the front if it we are clearly told what it is and shown a lovely clean floor and the size is stated which in my case is 1L then on the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a little bit about the product, the ingredients used, how to use it and contact details for Unilever (the manufacturer of the product) are listed. Nice quality packaging this is and I do like the integrated handle to one side of it for ease of use.
All you do to use this is measure out 3 capfuls of the pink transparent liquid into 5 litres of water. It mixes well, releases a wonderful and natural and rather strong fragrance of florals and gives off no foam in the water at all. You can use a mop, cloth or as I do...I have a poodle mop that I use!
This brings floors up really clean, with no water marks, smears or greasy residue at all. it leaves my home fragranced throughout for a good few hours too and my home feels really, really clean. I don't have to scrub at dirty marks to remove them any more when using this and I think this is a fabulous and good quality product that goes a long way as you don't need to use too much at all!
Available in all good supermarkets etc.

When looking for floor cleaner I like something that not only cleans well but also smells good and leaves no nasty streaky marks, its so annoying when you clean the floor only to have it covered in streaks when its dry. While shopping in my local Tesco I spotted Cif Floor Cleaner which states on the front " no residue", It sounded ideal so I bought a 1 litre bottle costing £2.15.
Cif Floor Cleaner is sold in a clear plastic bottle with the handle moulded into the bottle, I like clear bottles as you can always see how much is left. The lid is a simple screw top that doubles up as a measuring cap. The front of the bottle has a pink label on it which has the Cif logo in the middle, above this it has the fragrance, Wild Orchid, and on the bottom of the label it informs the customer that this is floor cleaner and promises to be easy to dilute, needs no rinsing and has a fresh fragrance. It also states that the product will "clean and leave a brilliant shine".
The back of the label gives the instructions for use, ingredients, warnings and shows what surfaces can be cleaned with the floor cleaner, these include lino, vinyl and ceramic tiles.
The Wild Orchid floor cleaner is a pink liquid that has a lovely floral scent, its quite strong in the bottle but when used its much more of a gentle fragrance.
Directions for Use.
Cif floor cleaner can be used diluted or neat, if you are adding it to water then its 3 caps of Cif to 5 litres of water, if you are using this way there's no need to rinse the area afterwards however it can also be used neat straight onto a sponge or cloth, if you are using like this it does need to be rinsed afterwards.
These are pretty standard for a cleaning product, keep away from children and avoid contact with your eyes. It also advises that you should test a small area first if you are using it on enamel baths or painted surfaces and don't mix with other cleaning products. One other thing is to rinse after use on lino.
I've had my Cif Floor Cleaner for approximately 3 weeks now and I have used it on ceramic tiles, laminate flooring and vinyl tiles and have been really pleased with how they all came up.
When I wash my floors I find the floor cleaner removes dirt and stains easily, in our house we walk from the garden straight into the kitchen so the kitchen floor is always being washed, I have been pleased with how the Cif cleans the vinyl tiles, it doesn't leave any residue as promised but it does leave a lovely flowery scent behind for a good couple of hours. I've had the same good results on my laminate flooring too. I have also used the Cif Floor Cleaner neat on the tiles in my bathroom, they bring these up lovely and shiny.
If you usually buy this type of product I can certainly recommend this, its one of the nicest floor cleaners I've tried in a long while, it doesn't irritate my skin, works really well and leaves a lovely summery fragrance behind.
I am very loyal to the Flash Febreeze all purpose cleaner to get my floors clean - as well as cleaning all the other places in my home... However I am open to trying new products when the price is right and I have heard good things about the brand!
On my most recent trip to Tesco I saw a display of CIF floor cleaner and wood floor cleaners - which were on offer at 2 1L bottles for £2 - so I decided to buy one of each to test. I was cleaning my kitchen floor at the weekend and decided to test my new CIF floor cleaner (which is wild orchid scented) as my Flash was running low and I was curious if this was just as good as the Flash products.
About the bottle
As previously mentioned the bottle size I have is 1L and is made out of soft plastic - when I say soft unlike other cleaner bottles you can squeeze this easily with your hand - its quite flimsy to be honest when I compare to other brands... I do worry if I accidently drop the bottle it could damage easily and cause spillages. So far though this has not happened. One thing I like about the bottle is that it has a handle on the right side so you can easily pick up and carry around.
About the product
The scent flavour as previously mentioned is noted on the front label as CIF Floor Cleaner in Wild Orchid. The label is mostly pink which goes nice with the liquid inside and shows the image of household tiles in the background. The label also notes:
* Causes no residue
* Easy to dilute
* No rinsing
* Fresh fragrance
* Cleans and leaves a brilliant shine
The back label notes this product is a floor and all purpose cleaner and gives images of bathroom floors, kitchen floors, kitchen units and a table to show the product can actually be used anywhere. I find it a bit pointless how they are advertising it as a floor cleaner if it is suitable for cleaning all these other places as well?
It also states it is ideal for linoeum, vinyl and ceramic tiles. I used the product diluted in a spray bottle on my kitchen tiles.
it then gives instructions on how to use - how much is needed when diluting and how much to use when its used neat on a sponge.
It also gives active ingrediants and normal safety information.
About the liquid
The liquid is transparant and a luminous pink in colour. It is also very thin, almost like water.
About the scent
It smells like summery flowers to me so they have hit the nail on the head when advertising the scent. However I did not smell the product until after purchase... I have to be honest its not something I would choose normally and I think I'm being too picky due to my bond with Flash products!
As previously mentioned when I tried this out I poured some of the liquid into a spray bottle and topped up with warm water - I then went on to spray on the tiles as in the past with Flash I have found this gives the best effect rather than getting on your knees and scrubbing.
One thing I am dissapointed with is the fact I did end up having to get on my knees and scrub anyway! With flash you simply spray on a mark two or three times and the mark literally dissapears in front of you and you wipe away with a mop. This did not happen with this CIF product...
Another thing I hated was the scent - it is very overpowering when all over the floor - with Flash you get the same effect but you like smelling their products - the CIF liquid reminds me of a cleaner an old lady would use on the floor... Too flowery for my liking...
However dispite the elbow grease you have to put in the and the awful scent I am pleased to say that my floor actually did come up very clean - very shiny and you do notice the difference.
The awful smell does dissapear as well - but when I compare to Flash products, you can smell their cleaner on the floor for days afterwards and theirs is not overpowering.
Due to the faults I can't give it full marks and I think I will likely be swaying more towards Flash in future!
Laminate wood bores...
In almost every room in our house we have laminate wood floors. Although I like the way this looks, they can be a pain to keep clean as every crumb or speck of dust seems to show up! I find myself getting the dustpan and brush out frequently to sweep - and of course they need a good clean with a mop from time to time too!
While I accept that this is something I simply have to do, I want to make this as easy for myself as possible, and I am happy to say that this floor cleaner certainly makes like easier!
The liquid floor cleaner comes in litre bottles at around £2 a pop. As you dilute this, it really is pretty good value for money! It also comes in other scents including Ocean and Lemon, but I liked the look of this pink liquid so this is the one I chose!
As I say, one thing I like about this product is that you dilute it, so the bottle lasts for ages. Although it says to use three caps to five litres of water I actually add some of the floor cleaner to a spray bottle that I have filled with water. I don't measure this precisely - I just use my judgement and hope for the best! I then squirt this onto my floors and mop as I go.
Cleaning up a treat
On my laminate floors this really works a treat. It seems to get rid of pretty much all the stubborn marks and any residue from spillages with me having to put in any extra legwork (which is always a bonus) and it also leaves floors with a nice sheen, so it actually looks as though they have had a bit of a polish! I also really like the smell - in general I find that cleaning products smell a bit grim but this is really fresh and clean smelling with a nice floral hint to it. It isn't too strong a fragrance but it lingers nicely and helps add to that "clean" feeling around the house!
I also use this on my tiled kitchen floors. As you may expect in the kitchen, I definitely have to put a bit more work in, especially in some of the harder-to-get-to spots under cabinets and around the oven and so on. But again this really does work at lifting those grimy marks and spillages, and although I need to put more effort in, the cleaner certainly does its job at leaving the tiles looking clean and again with that slight shine to them.
A great floor cleaner
Overall I can't really fault this product. It cleans well and smells good - and at the price I think it's great value as becuase you dilute it, a little really does go a long way.
When it comes to cleaning products at one time the only varieties you could get were in either lemon or pine fresh! Now, there are a whole host of varieties to choose from which in a way makes choosing a product a tad more difficult when you're faced with what seems like a whole aisle full of toilet cleaners but all in different colours and smells! I am not particularly loyal to any brand and tend to buy what is on offer and hope it works and this is exactly what I did with my latest floor cleaner.
My home has a variety of wooden floors, tiled and laminate and I try and buy a floor cleaner that will do everything as it certainly makes like a lot easier and saves me a lot of time! In Wilkinsons a few months ago I noticed a variety of cleaning products on offer (probably a Spring cleaning event) and among others I opted for the Cif Liquid Floor Cleaner in Wild Orchid and yes the pink liquid attracted my attention but also the thought of having my home smelling of orchids! Yes, I was conned by clever marketing!
Cif is a brand we have all heard of and it has been around for years (although under other names too) so I didn't worry too much that the floor cleaner I had chosen wouldn't be able to do its job. There are a few other varieties in the liquid floor collection but as I said above I liked the pinkness and I was sold!
The cleaning liquid comes in a clear, rectangular shaped bottle which features a handle and a safety white plastic top. The top is specifically designed to keep children safe as they won't be able to open it and for an adult to open it you simply need to press the bottle top at the sides and unscrew. As I said the bottle is clear you can obviously see the bright pink liquid contained and like most floor cleaners it has a thin consistency which if shaken will produce frothy bubbles.
To use the floor cleaner you simply need to dilute a very small amount with a large volume of water. I tend to use mine in my mop bucket and put about a capful in and then fill the bucket with warm/hot water. However, I do tend to add the floor cleaner after I have filled the bucket with water as doing it the other way round results in far too much froth and bubbles. As soon as the liquid dilutes with the water you do get a woft of a floral aroma and although you can tell it is a cleaner it doesn't have a horrid scent that lingers but a bit more delicate and actually perfectly pleasant.
I have different flooring types in my house so I would much rather have one cleaner that does it all the Cif Liquid Floor Cleaner in Wild Orchid does it all. I have a variety of tiles, laminate, wood flooring and vinyl so I wanted to make sure that this would tackle everyday grime (I have dogs, cats, a now toddler and a partner!) so my floors can get a bit grubby and I tend to sweep everyday and wash/clean twice a week so I wanted something with staying power but obviously got my floors clean!
Using the floor cleaner couldn't be easier and with my basic mop it still manages to get through muddy paw prints and foot prints with ease although I have found in that where I come in, in my willies or my partner has come in his muddied trainers I have to go over it twice or spray the area with an all purpose cleaner just to help break down the mud but this is hardly a problem and I guess this is something that all floor cleaners would struggle with. Generally though for normal grime the cleaner gets through everything without any problems and it does make cleaning the floors a nicer job!
I've been using this floor cleaner for a few months now and apart from my floors becoming clean easily the cleaning liquid doesn't leave a residue or any watermarks behind which is great as there is nothing worse than streaky watermarks on your nice, newly cleaned tiles which is something I hate as they end up still looking unclean. I do find that on certain floor surfaces the drying time is different so I tend to start of the floors which take the most time to dry (probably around 20 minutes at the most) and then work my way round. This is the same with any floor cleaner so this is certainly not a complaint!
I can't really find fault with it at all as it does its job well and the nice, floral aroma does linger for quite sometime after the floors have dried. Best of all it cuts through day to day dirt and grime with ease and doesn't leave any residue/watermarks. Because of the size of the bottle it comes in you really do get quite a few uses out of it as long as your not too heavy handed and use too much of course but a little does go a long way so my bottle will probably last me a good few months which I think is certainly good value for money. A definite recommendation from me and worthy of 5 stars!
Cif Liquid Floor Cleaner in Wild Orchid is not a limited edition and should therefore be quite easy to find in most supermarkets and discount stores. It always seems to be on offer and I purchased my bottle for just £1!
